Roger Reaves grew up a poor farm boy in Georgia and went from making 'moonshine' to becoming one of the most prolific smugglers of the 20th century. He covered six continents, transporting 20 ton ship loads of hash, tons of cocaine, and completed more than 100 sorties across the US border with plane loads of marijuana. His friends and associates spanned the globe - from Medellin Cartel kingpins Jorge Ochoa and Pablo Escobar, to "Mr. Nice" Howard Marks and the infamous Barry Seal who was Roger's close friend and employee. He escaped from prison on five separate occasions; was shot down in both Mexico and Colombia; and tortured almost to death in a Mexican prison. Despite it all, Roger still has a twinkle in his eye as he recounts his life story. And you have probably never heard of him...till now.

If this book were made into a movie, it would have to be toned DOWN just to be believable. Roger has lived a truly crazy life..

Unbelievable life..

Loved the fact that he told the story. It felt as if you were personally being told a tale.

Unbelievable! Amazing!

The story is simply amazing! I always wanted to read a story like this. He obviously went through a lot and I personally would have quit after the first arrest. But he kept going spending most of his life in prison, and did not spend much time with his family that he so desired. There were too many snitches involved. Most of his associates told on him to save their asses. But he refused to do the same, what a saint. But all in all great story really amazing. I know I’m not even close to being that brave.

What a great read!

my most favorite things in this world…drugs, outlaws, and airplanes. This book is in my top five list of all books I’ve ever read/listened to. Two thumbs up for sure!

Outlaws and Airolanes

Loved how most of it is about the mishaps, which is always where the challenges are, and not much braggadocio about all the smooth successes.
I also can appreciate the wide angle view on how keeping things illegal creates its own economy for governments.
