Publisher's summary

Greyson Crawford works hard by day and plays even harder at night. And he understands and obeys the rules of the game. One, don't mix business and pleasure. Two, employees are off-limits. So, he's been eagerly counting down the days until interior designer Evie Richards is no longer under contract with his Seattle architecture firm. But when that day comes, he realizes there are more obstacles in his way. The biggest ... Evie herself.

Until Evie gets asked to be the maid-of-honor in her best friend's destination wedding, and Evie needs a date. The circumstances are perfect for Greyson to set his plan of seduction into motion. He will happily play the boyfriend for the wedding event, if Evie will surrender to his every command and play in his bed.

For Evie, it's all fun and games until Greyson's first touch; then she begins to question what's real. She knows better than to fall for a guy like Greyson -- a skirt chasing ladies' man -- but with every slow caress and kinky adventure, she realizes that Greyson knows what he wants, and it isn't just her body surrendering to him, it's her heart.

DISAPPOINTING AFTER BOOK ONE

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

A little disappointed. The story lacked credibility due to little or no personal interactions and even less background. It skipped their working relationship altogether and began with Evie’s last day as an employee at Greyson’s firm. They could see each other without professional impropriety, but without any previous teases and flirtation, their plan to pretend to be a couple was too sudden. I’m not sure why sex was even part of the plan or why they felt it would help their weekend performance, either. There was little time spent together to develop a relationship and even less time for Evie to impress her ex, so IMO, the outcome didn’t seem very plausible. Not much of anything was told about their families, other than Evie talking to her mom on the phone. I learned more about Greyson's mom from book one!

Gideon Welles made the mediocre story listen-worthy. His narration was excellent with very few editorial problems. Thank you for that.

I'll give it One Thumb, but I won't wave it.

thoughts on skirt chaser

This has been in the TBR pile for awhile. I tried to read it but I got bogged down. Don’t get me wrong it was a good book but I found when I did the audiobook of it I was more captured by the book than when I kept trying to read it. I think it is because the narrator really kept me drawn into the story. He put nuances in that helped to bring the book to life. His voice had cadence when it was needed and brevity as well at just the right times.

Greyson-love. He was confident, fun and strong. I loved how he didn’t give up on Evie and getting her no matter what. He was what Evie needed and especially for the wedding. He didn’t waver in what he wanted or who. Loved that about him also loved how supportive of Evie he was. He truly respected her mind.

Evie-sweet but at times drove me crazy with her thoughts. She was perfect for Greyson though and presented a challenge to him which made the book so entertaining.

Romance aspect- sexy and sweet. The attraction between them was through the roof. I love that it wasn’t instarelationship but one that built.

Overall-fun sexy and entertaining and the narrator was just what the book needed to bring it to life..

A nice listen

This was a cute story with not too much angst (it could have been a lot worse) and not an over abundance of hijinx and awkwardness frequently found in fake relationship romances. Overall I really enjoyed it, and the soothing voice of the narrator. I will say, although I truly love the narrator’s voice, he uses the same tone for narration and dialogue. So if you aren’t listening carefully it can be hard to pick up on who is speaking or when characters are just thinking.

entertaining

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: reasonably
What did I like about the story? looking no deeper than the surface... this is an entertaining "pretending to be together" becomes "wanting to be together" story. Evie is a strong caring woman. Grey is a playboy, knows what he wants when it comes to women and he doesn't do commitment.... or so he thinks!

Gray is the perfect fake boyfriend for Evie at the wedding of her best-friend & her Ex. The chemistry that has built between them over the month Evie subcontracted at Gray's company ensures an intense weekend affair

Narration comment: the sound recording needs softening - words with "s" came through really sharp / loud and I found it difficult to listen too. Changing to a set of good quality noise cancelling headphones with different effect modes helped me eventually eliminate it, but I would definitely question listening to it again.

Gideon H. Wells has done a good job narrating Skirt Chaser. He has a deep voice, good inflections and I had no problem distinguishing characters or feeling the emotions of the story.

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The male was so deep and masculine and his narration was very pleasant. The story was not usual and I enjoyed it a lot.

3 stars

The writing and narration were decent, but I didn’t really feel like I got to know the characters. More details of Evie and her ex-boyfriend’s relationship would have helped to understand their status when she went off to college. They weren’t doing the long-distance thing, but she still felt secure enough in their relationship to expect to go back and marry him - this didn’t make sense to me.

Unrealistic Behavior

I listened to the audiobok. The narration was decent. There were times where the narrator didn't make the transition so I wasn't 100% sure which character was speaking until I listened to the dialogue a little longer.

The story was ok. I did feel like Grey and Evie had more of a connection and more chemist than Maddox and Joss did in the first book.

The thing that really irked me was Evie's behavior with her "best" friend and her ex. I can even accept forgiving them for having a relationship behind my back and getting married. There is NO WAY that I am going to continue to be friends with either one of them, be my former (because she would be my former) friend's maid of honor, AND attend the wedding. NO... UNH UNH...NOT HAPPENING.

Then to add insult to injury, when the truth fears its ugly head, Evie gets made a Grey and leaves him to comfort and commiserate with the woman she caught naked with the man she thought she was coming home to!

I don't expect complete realism in these stories, but sometimes it can surpass ridiculousness. This was one time for me.
