Not these boys. Yet that doesn't mean they don't have skills. And courage - which they will need every ounce of to do battle at sea against the other bands, the Wolves and the Sharks, in the ultimate race. The icy waters make for a treacherous playing field - especially when not everyone thinks of it as playing.

And with her bow she shoots back
Catastrophe of astronomical proportions brings despair and opportunists. In the end, a rainbow shot by our new heroine. Increasingly, the peoples of this land are engaging in rationality that questions and redefines myth. Could this series be moving in some direction? I really enjoyed this proto-post-apocalyptic tale. And the humor of eating demon turds.

Stick with it it’s one of the best!
Initially has a vibe of a rewrite to it but that’s a full misdirect it’s one of the best yet! Michelle mixes her usual beautiful prehistoric fantasy with a deconstruction of the psyche of those connected to the land and the loss of hope.
Do I have to say that Ian Mckellen is amazing as narrator, it seems superfluous!

4.5/5
Audiobook narrated by Ian McKellen.
A solid new Chronicles of Ancient Darkness story and a much darker one. A great disaster occurs and we see our main characters as well as all the clans struggle with the huge changes that occur.
The Good:
- A new and interesting direction for the series executed well
- The elements of magecraft included were interesting and imaginative.
- Due to the events of the past year, it was easy to see and understand how different characters reacted to the catastrophic opening events.
- The villain had developed and it will be intruiging how the overarching plot will develop.
What Could Have Been Better?:
- As with Viper's Daughter, very slight pacing issues.
I'm excited for the next installment which should be out Spring 2022.

Brilliant as always
Ian McKellen's performance was brilliant as always and I thoroughly enjoyed the latest instalment of this series. I did think the storyline might have gone a little fast at times, probably to fit the story into the same size book as usual, but it would have benefited from a little more exploration into the Stone Age world that we enjoyed so much in the first 3 books of the Chronicles Of Ancient Darkness.

worst of the series
I've now listened to every book in this series except for the last one. so far this has been the only one I've been disappointed in.
Ian McKellen does a fantastic job on the reading as he does in every book. The problem is the story.
I won't spoil the story but this one feels out of place the entire way to the end. it's like it's been written by a different author all together...
I would highly recommend the series to a new listener with a word of caution that your experience may be better if you leave the last three books unread.

Glorious Skin Taker
Another wonderful wonderful audio book in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series!
It’s a job to say for sure, because they are all so magnificent but I think it’s my favourite. Ian McKellen has the voice of an angel, that one could never get tired of listening too. I have the new book’Wolfbane’ sitting in my library ready to start tomorrow night, I’m excited but also feeling a bit sad, as this is the last book in the series. So no more Torak, Renn ,Wolf ,Fin Kedinn ,Dark and all the other wonderful characters.
A truly fantastic listen, I really do advise anyone looking for a new audio book try out Wolf Brother , and you will soon be hooked !

Story
There is Thorn, a shaman himself. He lives to pass down his wisdom and his stories - to teach those who would follow in his footsteps. There is Heather, the healer who, in many ways, holds the clan together. There is Elga, an outsider and the bringer of change. And then there is Loon, the next shaman, who is determined to find his own path. But in a world so treacherous, that journey is never simple - and where it may lead is never certain.
