An Open Letter to Any Musician Who Wants to Make $100,000 (or More) in the Music Business
You're in a career where it's considered "normal" to be broke. If you were doing anything else for a living, you'd have given up by now.
And I'm sure there are people in your life who wish you'd do just that... They want you to settle down, get a "real" job, and make music a hobby.
Screw 'em. The truth is, if you know what to do, you can make a lot of money as a musician.
This book shows you what to do. You'll learn exactly how to make money with your music - in the club, on the Internet, and on the road.
Here's a taste of what's waiting for you...
- How to get record labels to approach you (instead of you chasing them)
- Nobody at your shows? I'll show you several ways to fix that...
- "The Drip Method" - The most profitable way to release music.
- A 100-year-old marketing trick developed by a woman thought to be "too fat and ugly" for a career in music - today it works better than ever!
- The greatest threat to your music business success (it's not piracy) and how to neutralize it.
- A songwriting secret from successful drag queens and pissed off karaoke singers so potent, it almost guarantees a great song!
- How a $10 "kitchen appliance" will make you a better songwriter
- 4 proven "cures" for music business burnout and overwhelm
- What it takes for a musician to make $150,000/year (with only 500 fans)
- Rules for social media. Ignore these at your own risk.
- "Superfan" Secrets - How to develop fans who buy everything you sell.
- How to sell lots of music... without being obnoxious or turning people off
- Are you a musician over 40? Why age doesn't matter anymore...
- Proven, word-for-word "scripts" and emails that get people to buy your music
- 8 ways to make money giving your music away for free
- A small change in the way you release new music that is so powerful, you will double the money you make.
And that's just for starters. There's a lot of money to be made in the music business and this book will make sure you don't miss out.
Now is your chance. If you want a successful career as a musician, this book will help you.

Nothing new
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This book has a lot of the standard "You can do it! Get there and get it!" without giving any real practical advice. It's also very dated.

Great book
What made the experience of listening to Six-Figure Musician: How to Sell More Music, Get More People to Your Shows, and Make More Money in the Music Business the most enjoyable?
The music industry has changed from the days of the record labels being in charge of everything. Your success is not dependent on them alone anymore. David does a great job of spelling out the opportunities available to musicians of all stripes and describes the tools and techniques to help you engage with your audience. The audible.com version has a great appendix packed with information and an interview with the author.
What did you learn from Six-Figure Musician: How to Sell More Music, Get More People to Your Shows, and Make More Money in the Music Business that you would use in your daily life?
That it is not about you, but about making your audience feel good, that is the business we are in. The business is also not only about selling music, it is about engaging with your audience and making them feel good.

This is a magic bullet for how to make it
Any additional comments?
The six figure musican is an all encompassing, psychologically educating approach to what you need to be successful in music. While there are some blatant explanations on what to do, when and where to do it, this is a book focusing on the "why" to do it. You will learn to connect better with fans, time management gems, and amazing promotion and marketing ideas, just to name a few. Whether you are starting out, getting started again (like me) or need to get to the next level, this is for you.

Generic motivational advice
A bit too motivational and ambiguous. There are so many books like this and this one is not special or useful. Nobody with some sense doesn’t need this book to figure out what this book advices. Ari’s book on how to make it in music business is way better in terms of giving practical and specific advice.

Informative
If you are just starting out, this is a nice listen. Gives great overall theory about how to approach a music career in our current times. If you've been working in the industry even a little bit, this book probably won't be very helpful.
As I mentioned, most of it is concept and theory, without a ton of practical steps to take that you haven't already heard. There were a few golden nuggets in the last 15 minutes which I appreciated, but otherwise, for me personally, a lot of time wasted.
The narrator kinda killed it for me too, wish the author would've read it himself.

Excellent and inspiring
Loved this book. Great content, lots you can take and apply. Highly recommended. After finishing this book I felt inspired rather than overwhelmed as I have done with similar book. Good job!

It was good
This book was good but not great for beginners. I felt like it lacked some of the practical skills to start from the beginning. it is probably best suited to a band or artist who already has an album worth of songs and are playing at least at their local pub on the weekend. This book will give you the skills to expand your gig opportunities, make some decent cash and to distribute your cds and merch. However if you are a beginner trying to get your first album written, land your first gig or start your promoter contact network then this book is a bit of a leap.

Deebee Bishop a suitcase of homework
David Hooper has certainly worked hard preparing this book. There is nothing startling, in fact most of the info I’ve read before. But to have it all in one book is great. Well worth a listen.
One thing to note… in my opinion money is always second best when it comes to being a creative.
Not everything has to do with what will increase income.
