Sissy's Journey

Sissy Base is terrified.
At seventeen, she finds herself suddenly the sole caretaker of her three siblings when their mother fails to return home. Living in a rundown apartment in New York City with little money and even less food, Sissy must now pull it together, and fast, if they are to survive alone.

When two of her younger siblings resort to stealing just to survive, Sissy knows their time is limited. But just when she thinks it can't get any worse, two of her siblings disappear, leaving Sissy and her baby brother suddenly alone and desperate to be reunited.

But first she must find them. And she has an idea where they are.

When a friend suggests the unthinkable, she realizes she may now not have much choice, and soon answers an ad to become a mail-order bride out west. But what starts as a ploy to find her family might become something much more, for her journey is only just beginning.
