Outer Banks

Book 4. Danny returns to Scotland, still torn up about Philip’s death, and his relationship with Susan. His friends are concerned he may move to the US. The Outer Banks is about to get hit by another hurricane. Worried about Susan, Danny decides to fly to the states to be with her and keep her safe. Flights are canceled to NC due to the hurricane. Heather hatches a plan for Danny and Susan to meet in New York. Good story, and well develop characters. Narration was well done.

Scottish Whisky!

This is the fourth installment in the "Scottish Whisky" series about Susan and Danny. It is a fairly short quick read/listen and does end with a very dreaded cliffhanger. There are five parts to their story so they need to be read in order. Susan and Danny who met while she was in Scotland with her friend. Susan and Danny see each other again in North Carolina. Now he has returned to Scotland to try and move past his relationship with Susan. He begins dating but is not happy. Then he hears a storm in brewing. I enjoyed this story and thought the narrator did a really good job with the accents. I look for to the next segment of Danny and Susan's story.

ARC Review

Episode 4 takes place in both Scotland and in the US. Danny is upset and dealing with his friends death. It was an interesting quick listen.

This short story continues to end on a cliff hanger.

Poor Danny

This is the fourth of five installments, I believe, that tells the story of Scottish Danny's and American Susan’s love story. I was prepared not to like this one, as it is strictly from Danny’s perspective while he’s in Scotland pining for Susan after their blow-up breakup that happened at the end of the third installment. (I’m still a little peeved at the way she treated him!) For me, in general, for a romance to really work, the couple at least needs to be together on the page sometimes! but this still worked. Danny’s friends have set him up on what turned out to be pretty disastrous blind dates, and we see them in all their blinding agony. The first one is terrible, as she is clearly only after the wealth and prestige he could bring to a relationship. But the author did a great job showing how bad Danny feels about the loss of Susan, and I found it surprisingly touching. His friends also try taking him on a kayaking adventure to get his mind off his woes, to no avail. The book ends on a dramatic cliffhanger, as Danny plans to risk life and limb to go to Susan during a fierce Atlantic storm. I can hardly wait to see how this ends up in the final installment.

Following one's heart & friends who meddle!

The romance between Danny and Susan is not going well. Danny returns to Scotland filled with the pain of his friend’s death earlier and the loss of Susan. Heather and his best friend begin to set Danny up on blind dates making Danny realize just how much he misses Susan and that there will be none like her. He has some hard decisions to make but first, he must quit wallowing in his pain and loss. The deadly storm that is headed straight toward Susan motivates Danny to act quickly. Will he get to her in time?

The author, Aila Skye, continues to build the story of Danny and Susan beautifully. Vivid in details and emotions, the listener feels the pain and desires as well. Each character is developed solidly and richly. The plot is moved smoothly along with the genuine dialog.

The narrator, Alexa Teebo, gives a quality performance and continuity with the voices of the characters. This is key to keeping the characters straight and Alexa does this beautifully. Each voice is rich and unique.

This series of books are short listens but transport the listener deep into the story. I look forward to hearing how Danny and Susan resolve their relationship.

There were no issues with the production or quality of this audiobook. It was clear and crisp.
