Publisher's Summary

In a time he doesn’t belong, in an alliance she shouldn’t have made, they’ll fall dangerously, hopelessly in love.

New Orleans, 2020. Billionaire Rhys McCaim doesn’t believe for one second that his missing mother is a time traveler. Still, his father insists that she didn’t leave them willingly but was pulled through time to her true home in medieval Scotland. But when he and his three brothers test out an ancient time-traveling spell to appease their dying father and Rhys is catapulted to 13th-century Scotland, he can’t exactly deny it anymore. Suddenly, he’s a Highlander in a land on the verge of war. He needs to get back to his time before all hell breaks loose, but first he must find his mother. Luckily, fate drops the perfect guide in his path. She’s brilliant, beautiful, and bold, and he’s drawn to her in a way he’s never been drawn to anyone or anything before. But he can’t afford to be distracted from his mission or lower his carefully constructed guard.

Scotland, 1286. Maggie Irvine is betrothed to a vicious man who cares only of wealth and power. Marrying him will restore her family’s reputation, however, saving her siblings from lives of misery. She has resigned herself to her fate, but when a mysterious, handsome stranger magically appears before her out of thin air, her plan - and the stranger’s life - are in jeopardy. And the only way to save him is to risk everything. As she comes to learn the shocking truth of what he hides, Maggie discovers what happens when duty collides with desire and long-abandoned dreams rise to the surface.

Bound by secrets and lies, Maggie and Rhys are entangled in the brewing battle for the Scottish throne. With his knowledge of the future, Rhys possesses the powerful ability to alter history. Yet, to do so successfully, he must let Maggie past the defenses he’s spent a lifetime building. Now, an alliance that began in desperation becomes a need that will leave them both torn between what they should do and what love demands.

If you love sexy bad boy heroes with hearts of gold, heroines with the courage to fight for what they want, and love stories that encompass all time, then you’ll love this sweeping romance series.

Exciting time travel, two souls together

Picked this audiobook up to listen to as Julie Johnstone is one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed the story. The connection between Maggie and Rhys was instant and strong, strong enough to cross time. Maggie was a strong woman, quite willing to do what she could for her family. Rhys wanted to protect the young woman though he pushed her to help him. With secrets, unbelievable truths, and danger surrounding them, they try to find Rhys' mother, finding love on the way. Tim Campbell (one of my favorite narrators) did a wonderful job with the narration. I loved the transition between the Scottish brogue for Maggie and the American voice for Rhys. I recommend the story, the book, and the audio.

A great story

This book is so good . It pulls you in and you can’t put it down. It is written so well and the details and research that was done to achieve this must have been tremendous. I can’t wait to start the next one.

Finally a Male Timetraveler Falls in Love!

Narration was very good. Storyline, while the typical timetraveler falls in love, was a welcomed surprise when the traveler was male! A good listen.

A can't miss! One of the best in time travel!

Julie Johnstone & Cecelia Mecca teaming up to put together a series of Highlander books is inspired! Both of them are awesome writers, together they have rocked this first book.
Time travel has always been a favorite of mine and this one catches you on the first page and will hold you enthralled to the last page. I could not stop reading.
Rhys, Modern rich man has a problem believing his father when he tells them that his mom was a time traveler. None of his 3 brothers believe it either. When he is thrown back to 1286 Scotland, he is to say the least shocked.
It just gets better from here. I cringed at some of the things he has to go through, laughed at some of the things he has to learn, some of the time I felt like crying for him. A total roller-coaster of emotions are packed in this story.
Tim Campbell is swoon worthy with his Scottish accent making this book totally awesome. I love listening to him. He brings already wonderful characters to life!

Loved it

As always loved every second of it like I do every book of Julie Johnstone. Was so anxious to know how it would end but at the same time didn't want it to finish. Can't wait for book 2. And hope we will have more of Rhys and Maggie. And Tim Campbell narrating is the icing AND the cherry on the cake. I love his narrating. He's my favourite narrator.

Great start to the series!

I’m not a huge fan of time travel but I love a good romance with a Scot in it. I really like the premise of the brothers going back to find their mother. Rhys, the oldest brother, and Maggie, the Scottish lass he meets when he goes back in time, were a sweet and spicy couple. Of course, I adore Tim Campbell’s voice and he does a wonderful job with both male and female roles. When it ended I was like more I need more, so I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the series!

Time travel at its best

New Orleans, year 2020, billionaire Rhys McCaim and his two younger brothers are desperate to find his mother, who suddenly disappeared five years ago. Now, their father has become gravely ill and slipped into a coma. Their only hope lies in finding their mother to bring him back to the living. The only problem is their dad believes their mother time traveled to her time in Scotland. The three brothers dig through the study of their father looking for clues. What they find will change their beliefs and futures forever. Scotland, year 1296, Maggie is in a loch when a stranger appears from out of nowhere. Meet another person whose life will change forever. This is the first book in a collaboration of Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca’s called Highlander’s Through Time. Books 1 and 3 are by Julie Johnstone and 2 and 4 by Cecelia Mecca. This series promises to be EPIC if book 1 is an example. They are both awesome authors and I can’t wait for brother number 2s story. I was so entranced by this book and it’s premise and characters, I could hardly put it down. It is so good you won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend this book. Narration was awesome as always with Tim Campbell.

Sinful scot

Not really what I expected. I do like that it’s the MH that is the time traveler. But I did miss the narrators Scottish accent. The story line was good but not sure if I’ll continue the series.

I Loved this Book

Yet another brilliant book from the imagination of Julie Johnstone. I do not know where the ideas come from but let's hope it continues.
As for Timothy Campbell I am astounded with the narration. Not only did he do a Scottish accent, he did an American accent & also narrated in an English accent. It is mind boggling.
I would definitely recommend it.

Tim Campbells narration is spot on. His American voices of the brothers are superb.

Nothing like a good old Scottish time travel book

Really enjoyed this writing combo. My only gripe is I swish there had been some more steamy romance scenes.

Tim Campbell always does an excellent job
