Publisher's summary

After another long day at work, all Jon Christensen wanted was a cheap burger and some peace and quiet.

When he pulled into the McDonald’s, Jon only had the usual cares on his mind. His sister. The bills. A career with seemingly nowhere to go.

But after a confusing encounter at the cash register triggers a violent episode in the parking lot, he’s quickly pulled into a world he doesn’t understand. His few careless sentences - and the odd gift of languages he’s kept hidden for years - wind up thrusting him right into the middle of a chaotic magical free-for-all, a battle taking place in the shadows of society. Entangled in an increasingly complex web of violence and lies, he's left with a choice: adapt or die.

Surrounded by strangers, Jon must struggle to survive, searching out friends amidst a sea of foes. If he can get his group of strays and rejects to work together, there’s a chance they might just make it out alive.

Should he fail, the consequences will be dire - not only for Jon, but also for those he loves.

Great Urban Fantasy

I really loved this book. I'm already dying for more in the series. This was a great start to what could be an amazing series of not only books but tv or movies. Casey Whites writing is excellent and well planed out. Some of the bigger fight scenes were only slightly jumbled but its hard when you have so many powerful pieces moving simultaneously. Andrew Tell's performance is phenomenal, really bringing the suspense of the story alive. I will say it felt rushed surprisingly for a 25 hour long audio book, this could be because I loved this world so much I could have had more side character development or back story. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Basic ideas are there

Basic ideas are there but really turned into Highlander meets Young Guns. A lot could be trimmed from first chapters to increase story pace. The narration was painful to hear.

Fantastic Story

This was a great book in my opinion, as with most books it had its ups and downs especially since it was a tab bit long. Although I found points to be exceedingly boring I felt as though it was was turned around right at the point that it was too much.

10/10 LISTEN TO THIS NOW U WONT REGRET IT!!!

Narrator perfectly suited the book and the main character, every second my attention was gripped with the twists and turns of the story.

John, Kira, Aiden, Jake I love all the characters and their dynamics!

The only down side is the SECOND NOVEL ISN'T NARRATED, please I beg get the same narrator to narrate the 2nd in the series 😭. I'll start reading the novel but will sadly miss the amazing narration. I'll most probably read the novel with this narrator in my head as the voice lol

Good narrator, painful dialogues.

I really like the premise of this book and it started off pretty solid. As time went on, though, the dialogue between characters started to bother me to the point that I could not finish the book. The conversations progress painfully slowly and the author makes a huge effort to make them NOT say or do the actual thing any real person would say. I could not suspend disbelief any further and aborted the book half way through.

Silvertongue

I really liked this book. That being said,it could have been shorter if people would have just TALKED to each other instead of having non conversations that never get finished.I know that was part of the story,it just drove me a bit mad. John goes to McDonalds for a Big Mac and his whole world changes in a matter of minutes. Andrew Tell was a fine narrator. A promising start, but needs polish

So I'll give this a 3.5 story and a nod as a promising start. I like the premise, especially the hints and bits of story it seems are taking shape. It will be interesting to see how the main character solves his assorted moral quandaries. BUT.. I knocked 1-1.5 stars off as I think this could be TONS better if it were paced out differently. It drags in several places (for instance it takes 4 hours or so before it really starts to get out of what I would consider the prologue).

The narration itself is decent but neither is it the best I've heard between 3-4 varying throughout. If the narrator had done some of the flourishes he did in a couple portions of the story with one of the characters throughout it would I think be closer to a 4.25-4.75 for narration.

Overall about a 3.75 or so rounded to 4. Looking forward to the next book.
