Very engaging reading of an amazing story

Only 4 stars overall because occasionally have sections of audio repeat unexpectedly but besides this it is very memorable and does my memory of reading this book 20 years ago a good tribute

Terrible audio mix.

I could overlook the strange (and bad) pronunciation, even the silly and inappropriate voices, but the unprofessional audio mix is wretched. Harper should be ashamed. Repeated sections, huge pauses, stumbles that should have been re-recorded, radically different levels in mid-paragraph. Shockingly bad.

A bridge to darkness at sethanon

The narrator pronounces the names a bit weird, overall a bit slow. But the story is okay, I wish it focused a bit more on Pug and Thomas. But hey, you need to go through this to appreciate Darkness at Sethanon more.

Great imagination

Love the story, world building, diverse cultures and interesting characters although the writers female characters lack depth or story power.

Absolutely phenomenal

The first book was good, but it only becomes great once you read the second book. This book has everything I want from a fantasy book, and more. Feist has an ability to write suspense like no other fantasy writer I've read, what an enjoyable book! Bring on part 3

Listen to it if you've read it

I've read the book 30 times at least and I still heard new things. I decided to restart the whole series on Audible and am enjoying every hour I'm stuck in traffic.

As Good As Good As I Remembered

I've read the Rift War books many times over the past 20 years and was worried that a narrator wouldn't match my memory. I had nothing to fear, other than some random pauses which must have happened as part of the mastering process the story was well told.
The story is a proper adventure/quest tale which is well paced and an excellent if too short follow up to Magician. It also sets the scene perfectly for the climax in Darkness at Sethanon.

Great book

only one negative - bizarre pronunciations on some names, but didn't detract from a rivetting story.

Errors

There are Audio Errors, bits repeat themselves.
This happens usually at the end of a chapter, where it repeats.
This must be corrected.

it's a great second in the series book

the character development of the nook focuses on different characters to the original book (magician) and so the series widens.

Needs editing

Unfortunately this recording - as others have said, has episodes that repeat. It’s a shame and needs editing.
However, I still enjoyed it, and I love this series, but I wish Feist would find a synonym for “said”!!

Great story irritating narration.

I read this book years ago and loved it so decided to revisit on Audible. It's still a compelling story but the narrators style I find bizarre and irritating. I honestly thought it was Stephen Toast . Takes a lot of getting used to.

An amazing follow up to magician

I loved this book and can’t wait to get stuck in to darkness at sethanon.

I’ve read all Feist books several times over and I’m a lifelong fan since I was 11. Over 30 years of literary pleasure.

If you haven’t read this you’re in for a treat

Great listen.

Im afraid Peter Joyce may have been given little instruction on the correct pronunciation of many of the key characters names in this series, but otherwise the performance is adequate.

He is consistent and his characterizations are subtle but effective for the most part. The voicing of Baru and Murmandamus I feel are dead wrong, but hey, that's audio books for you.

Well worth the buy if you dont have the time or inclination to sit down with this great read.

Great characters, good story.

Overall a great book, great characters and settings. One of the better fantasy series on Audible.
Unfortunately the are some strange long pauses and jumps with audio, that are obvious enough to be a little distracting

Great second chapter in tue series.

I enjoyed this book much better than the fo2rst one. With the characters introduced already in Magician, Silverthorne was able to go deeper into each of the characters and there bonds. My favourite character Jimmy the Hand was brilliant and I can not wait to see what other mischievous events he gets into. Fantastic read can not wait to start book 3.

A great sequel.

I think that silverthorn was a great follow up to The Magician. It was not very fast paced. A let down. But it was still very hooking and captured the readers imagination on a few things namely "The Enemy". Overall great listen. I will be looking forward to darkness at sethathon. I think that is the third book. Or maybe the first in the serpent triology. Anyway it's by Raymond E Feist so it's bound to be good

Well known fantasy series, enjoyed revisiting.

Pronunciation of some character names differ from my reading of them. Asian accents for Tsurani uncalled for and offensive. Reader should leave the story alone and his interpretation of how characters should sound out unless described by the author.

Great story, poor narrator

I love this series, but the narrator has a limited range and misses the nuisances of these amazing characters. The narrator has as much emotive connection to the characters, as does a pudding.
