Publisher's summary

TV reporter Riley Spartz publicly clashes with local gossip writer Adam Lorenzo and throws a drink in his face after he implies in his newspaper column that she cheated on her dead husband. When the gossip is found shot to death, she is shocked to be charged with murder. Though the victim was widely despised, police seem unwilling to look any further for suspects, and Riley must use her skills to secretly investigate the case before it's too late and she winds up in jail.

Everyone focuses on revenge as the motive in the gossip homicide, but Riley discovers the murder might actually have been a preemptive strike by new Channel 3 reporter Clay Burrel, after the gossip columnist stumbled upon evidence that could prove the reporter killed his wife - for ratings.

Fun, Easy, Listen

This is the third Julie Kramer book I have listened to and I enjoy her work. This book is easy to listen to, funny, and has nothing offensive in it. It isn't going to win any book awards, but I love her writing. The mystery kept me guessing through much of the story. Highly entertaining.

Good book with inconsistent voice acting

I've listened to other Riley Spartz novels and have enjoyed the voice acting. This one appeared to have a new actor for the first half of the book that was not as good and then switched to the usual voice actor for the 2and half of the story.

Entertaining Mystery

Main character Riley Spartz is fiesty. She's also driven, smart and vulnerable. She is never boring. I like her,

This is a good mystery with a plot that had some surprising twists for me. Author Julie Kramer was a TV news reporter in the area where I live. I believe there is truth in what she writes about the way things work in local TV news.

I've read all of Julie Kramer's Riley Spartz books and never been disappointed with them. If you are looking for an entertaining mystery this is a good bet.

ANOTHER GREAT BOOK!

Riley Spartz is funny, inventive, and fun to follow. I felt like a character in this book and lost track of all time. No spoilers, but is reporting ONLY about ratings? It would seem so. Riley's on the defensive and offensive all at the same time and must prove her innocence before it's too late. I can't wait for the next Spartz novel. SILENCING SAM is top-notch entertainment and Kramer's at the top of her game. Cheers!
