Publisher's Summary

For 11 years Oakley Farrell has been silent. At the age of five, she stopped talking, and no one seems to know why. Refusing to communicate beyond a few physical actions, Oakley remains in her own little world.

Bullied at school, she has just one friend, Cole Benson. Cole stands by her, refusing to believe that she is not perfect the way she is. Over the years they have developed their own version of a normal friendship. However, will it still work as they start to grow even closer?

When Oakley is forced to face someone from her past, can she hold her secret in any longer?

UK native Natasha Preston grew up in small villages and towns. She discovered her love of writing when she stumbled across an amateur writing site and uploaded her first story and hasn't looked back since. She enjoys writing NA romance, thrillers, gritty YA and the occasional serial killer.

Silence can mean soo much

What a unique story, I read this book many years ago and loved it. My heart hurt so much for this girl who gave so much to make everyone happy. Oakley’s story is a sad and hard one to read/listen to but the story is one that sticks with you, not because of the nature of it but because sadly this isn’t always fiction for some this is their real life.

The way this story plays out makes you see how strong Oakley is and what she is tortured with every single day of her life. I love that she has this connection with Cole and how she can feel so safe with him. He makes her feel she is 100% fine just the way she is.

The narrators for this book are fantastic and do such a wonderful job bringing this story to life.

Slow book

Great storyline but nothing actually happens until about 45 minutes before the book ends. I feel like I listened to two teenagers waking up and going to sleep with each for hours. The little bits of foreshadowing were great but i wished things picked up sooner. Awesome book, Natasha is such a talented writer!! I fell in love with both narraters as well.

Good book & performancecm - not unabridged

Would you try another book from Natasha Preston and/or Anne-Marie Piazza and Kris Dyer ?

Yes I would. I thoroughly enjoyed their performances.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes, I would

Any additional comments?

I don't usually quite reviews but I take issues this today. I have ADD and to say that I sat down and actually read the whole series in as many days as there are books says a lot. But I love audible and I wanted the audio books to go with my kindle ebooks. As I was listening for the first time and following along in the book I noticed at first a word left out.... Then a couple works at a time.... Then sentences... And finally whole chapters. I HATE buying abridged audio. So I don't do it. I like the whole story boring plots and swear words and all. It's how the author intended it and I get more from it. I might have not bought the book if I'd known it was abridged or I might have sucked it up with no other option being available. But to tell us the recording is unabridged when I can pin point exact story lines and introduction of points of views missing is just wrong. I wanted to hear Cole's perspective after her not responding to his text in chapter five but instead the original chapter six was cut out and Cole's perspective doesn't happen until chapter 20! Everything was rearranged... But why? It didn't make the story better or much shorter... It's still nearly 8 hrs ... I so often don't actually sit down and read the books I listen to and I would have be bummed to unknowingly missed story lines...

Ps Kudos on narrator choices I really like them and I'll definitely listen to more of theirs in the future.

Good Book 🙂🥰🙂

I have read this book before but I definitely didn’t know anything about The Audible app I loved to read but I stopped reading because it was just because I had a hard time getting thought books because I cannot say the words right or pronounce them right so I stopped reading All together even though reading books are better than watching tv 24/7 plus that you can’t stop listening to the book and you can listen to anything you want or whatever you feel like listening to no matter what else you’re doing . & the best part is that you can always take your book with you no matter where you go & you can always bookmark where you left off in your books & you can always imagine yourself in the story’s that you read which is fun to imagine yourself in a good story to some people that might sound silly but to me it doesn’t at all #I ❤️ to 📖 Read Now

Excellent plot line

Absolutely loved this story. I wanted to beat Max so badly. How could he do that to his own daughter? How did he justify it to himself?

Poor Oakley and Cole...

Hearing story from 2 people was very entertaining.

If you could sum up Silence in three words, what would they be?

someone to Love. If only Oakley, heard Cole's thoughts she would have realized Cole always believed in her.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Silence?

when Oakley spoke for the First time.

What about Anne-Marie Piazza and Kris Dyer ’s performance did you like?

Both readers, made me feel their performance, always wanting to hear more.

If you could take any character from Silence out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Probably, Cole. Just because he seems so genuine.

Any additional comments?

Love the story.

So VERY sadly disappointing...

Tragically disappointing.
This story started out so interestingly, soon becoming intriguing. I was pleased, finally, to being able to listen to a story that drew you in and was not an assault by societies baser language. Then after several chapters the vulgar onslaught began. So unnecessary and so disappointing. When did Authors feel the need to pander to people who seem to need the filth and lowest form of human expression to be entertained? This was a tragidy because it had me hopeful there were Authors who could write an intriguing story that did not leave the reader (or listener) with the need to take a shower with antibacterial cleaning solution. If some want that type of entertainment, I know sex sells, enjoy it. But can the author, please, at least let those if us with children know ahead of time vulgar words & adult themes are presented? Not every one today has given up trying to teach wholesome values as opposed to wholesale sell-out values. Didn’t your Mother ask you: “ If Johnny’s Mother let him jump off the bridge, do you think I should let you?”
