Story
In Reasons to Believe, Scott Hahn, a convert to Catholicism, explains the "how and why" of the Catholic faith - drawing from Scripture, his own struggles, and those of other converts, as well as from everyday life and even natural science. Hahn shows that reason and revelation, as well as nature and the supernatural, are not opposed to one another; rather, they offer complementary evidence that God exists. He is someone, and He has a personality, a personal style, that is discernable and knowable.

Angels and saints. Catholics tend to think of them as different from the rest of us. They're cast in plaster or simpering on a holy card, performing miracles with superhero strength, or playing a harp in highest heaven.
Yet they are very near to us in every way. In this lively audiobook, Scott Hahn dispels the false notions and urban legends people use to keep the saints at a safe distance. The truth is that Jesus Christ has united heaven and earth in a close communion. Drawing deeply from Scripture, Dr. Hahn shows that the hosts of heaven surround the earthly Church as a "great cloud of witnesses".

Of all things Catholic, there is nothing that is so familiar as the Mass. With its unchanging prayers, the Mass fits Catholics like their favorite clothes. Yet most Catholics sitting in the pews on Sundays fail to see the powerful supernatural drama that enfolds them. Pope John Paul II described the Mass as "Heaven on Earth," explaining that what "we celebrate on Earth is a mysterious participation in the heavenly liturgy."

Story
As Catholics, we believe in the resurrection of the body. We profess it in our creed. We're taught that to bury and pray for the dead are corporal and spiritual works of mercy. We honor the dead in our Liturgy through the rite of Christian burial. We do all of this, and more, because when Jesus Christ took on flesh for the salvation of our souls he also bestowed great dignity on our bodies. In Hope to Die: The Christian Meaning of Death and the Resurrection of the Body, Scott Hahn explores the significance of death and burial from a Catholic perspective.

Story
Long before the New Testament was a document, it was a sacrament. Jesus called the Eucharist by the name Christians subsequently gave to the latter books of the Holy Bible. It was the "New Covenant," the "New Testament," in his blood. Christians later extended the phrase to cover the books produced by the apostles and their companions; but they did so because these were the books that could be read at Mass.

Story
In The Bible Is a Catholic Book, Jimmy Akin shows how the Bible cannot exist apart from the church. In its origins and its formulation, in the truths it contains, in its careful preservation over the centuries, and in the prayerful study and elucidation of its mysteries, Scripture is inseparable from Catholicism. This is fitting, since both come from God for our salvation. If you're a Catholic who sometimes gets intimidated by the Bible, The Bible Is a Catholic Book will help you better understand and take pride in this gift that God gave the world through the church.

In this brilliantly taught course, you will explore the theology and practice of the Catholic Mass with one of the world's leading liturgical professors as your guide. Catholics believe that every time they gather to celebrate, they are acting in obedience to Jesus' command to "do this in memory of me." Catholics have obeyed this command for nearly 2,000 years, and now you can explore anew the spiritual and theological meaning of this vital celebration.

Wonderful "Listening"
Scott Hahn does have an extraordinary gift for upacking complex Catholicsm teachings into understandable parts. I have read most of his books and I am pleasantly surprise to note that he does the same here with his Audiobook. He does a fine task of narrating his own book.
On the book itself, I personally believe it is a must have book for all Catholics. The chapters are short and at the end of each chapter there is a reflection quote posed with the author. There are all together 40 chapters covering a wide range of church customs and practices, from Baptism up to the sign of the Cross. Wonderful stuff that every catholic is bound to benefit from!

Great insight into Catholicism
Any additional comments?
I have enjoyed many of Scott Hahn's books. This one was no exception. This book provides some great insight as to why Catholics do and believe what they do. There were a few times where I felt Hahn we t a little off topic and ventured more into "how to be a better Catholic" which I felt would be better served in another book. The title and intro to the book indicates a more factual based story.

A Richer, Fuller Understanding
Short chapters packed with facts and reflections make this book a model for the 17th Catholic custom it discusses, spiritual reading:
“Our reading should be regular…It should never be burdensome. We should limit the time we dedicate to the task—say, 10 or 20 minutes—and keep ourselves within those constraints. It’s better for us to devote 10 minutes a day to spiritual reading over the course of 30 days than to glut ourselves on 5 hours in a single day.”
And so, like St Augustine’s Confessions or Thomas a Kempis’ Imitation of Christ, this book is broken up into digestible, 10 to 12- minute, contemplation-friendly chunks. Though not as deep as those classics, Hahn expresses the hope that these “meditations” will be “a time of purification, transformation and renewal” leading to “a richer and fuller understanding of the Catholic life”. As always, he delivers that in spades.
My one quibble is with Hahn’s preface. Based on the Biblical precedent of 40, Hahn explains that there’s “nothing canonical” about the customs he chose and “nothing definitive” about his reflections on them. “They’re mine” he explains, “and I hope as you grow in devotion, you make a list that’s your own”.
All well and good. Yet some of the customs listed are hardly optional—reverence for the True Presence, for example. For others, like spiritual reading, we are told, “Without regular reading, ‘there is no possibility of advancing in the spiritual life.’”; hardly a choice, this ruling leaves the less studious among us at something of a loose end. It’s an odd inconsistency in an otherwise rich and valuable book. As always, Hahn is the best reader of his own writing.
