Publisher's Summary

It's hard enough being an undergraduate student, an intern at Downtown Manhattan's police station, and a bouncer at a local bar. Add her now-ex-boyfriend who recently dumped her for the school's resident bimbo - oh, and she's a werewolf.

Mackenzie Grey meets her match when she is kidnapped by the Brooklyn Pack and tossed between Sebastian and Jonah - the Alpha and the Beta. Being a lone wolf in the city is dangerous, and now that the Pack has found her, so can every supernatural being in the Tri-State area. And not even her sarcastic, smart mouth can get her out of this.

When a string of kidnappings involves Mackenzie in supernatural politics, she questions her new acquaintances and finds unlikely allies. Can she escape Pack law and keep her freedom - or will she be condemned to an unwanted path?

Contains mature themes.

Meh

It was ok, but very slow... nothing really happens in the story till the very end. Plus the narrator was kinda annoying. I will give the author another chance & read the next book to see if it's any better that way...

I'm not sure

This is a pretty good story with an interesting plot. But there were a few things that was really off putting.
1. The love triangle is clumsy and distracting. Too much time is taken by the convoluted back and gorth between Jonah and Sebastian.

2. Mackenzie seems to be in a constant state of confusion that takes away from her being a strong woman.

3. Some of the plot twists were never fleshed out which makes the plot weak.

4. This is not high school. Is it really necessary to have both a female and werewolf nemisis? When will authors get away from mean girls?

Nicole Poole does a great job giving the characters life, but she couldn't make this story great. I'm not sure if I want to get the next story, but, I probably will.

Not what I wanted or expected from a shifter story

I liked this series and it had great potential. Nicole Poole is one of my favorite narrators too. The biggest issue I have with this book/story, and the reason for my rating, is the character of Mackenzie. The author wanted her to be head strong and what not but she came across as childish and throws temper tantrums with every chance she gets. You can’t have grown a** men who act like grown ups dig a girl who acts 13 and wants to start a “Luna revolution”. She’s not a feminist. She’s not an adult. It would have been a better YA story with the lead as a 16 year old. I thought it would get better as she grows up and deals with the fact she’s a wolf but it doesn’t. I like books where the female lead knows what she wants, doesn’t have a human moral code, and can get down and dirty. I can see the author wanted to make Mack like this but she comes off as a child. I wish I could’ve liked this book so I can finish the series but I truly can’t waste money or a credit just to listen to a whiny child complain about her life, complain about compulsion, complain about the treatment of Luna’s and how she’s not a housewife, then complain about the attention she’s getting from men because she’s still sad about her ex cheating on her with Barbie. I can’t and I spent most of this book skipping 20 seconds ahead to get to the good parts. :(

5/5 Great Paranormal Series -Book 1-2-3

Mackenzie Grey, is our main character-with great friends to help her through her journey. All the books so far have been exciting and well written. You will be cheering for Mackenzie Grey along with me.

Mackenzie grows up with a human family, all the time thinking she is human. One day she changes into a wolf. Needless to say, she has questions. Instinctively, she doesn't tell her family and leaves her home to live on her own. The story flies from there. She will befriend humans, other wolves, vampires and… This story expands with every new bit of information she uncovers.

Nicole Poole's narration is excellent for all 3 books, and I have paced Karina Espinosa on my favorite Author (to purchase) list.

I will post an in-depth Review in the future but as of now, I will give this a 5 star for the overall experience.
