Publisher's summary

One moment, the lovely young woman was walking through the Battle of Hastings exhibition at the British Museum. The next, she lay dead on the checkered museum floor, a Norman arrow protruding from her breast. Inspector Lestrade believed he had solved the mystery, but almost immediately recognized that Scotland Yard needed the help of Sherlock Holmes.

From London to the Lake District, the master detective, along with his colleague Dr. Watson and recently-met American mystery writer, Anna Katharine Green, follows a string of clues that ultimately exposes the intricacies of a tragic love story—a woeful tale whose twists and turns reveal what Watson accurately called “the unhappiest of Holmes's adventures".

Perfect for Sherlock Holmes Fans

My family has really enjoyed this series! The pacing and quality of narration has been consistently wonderful. We had no problems with listening so I am guessing other reviewers had issues with their device and not this audiobook. This series has been perfect for road trips with or tweens and teens.

Decent writing, but not very Interesting. Poor audio. Odd narration.

The story drags along without enough of interest to support its length. The plot is rambling and thin for the length of the book. The story is not bad, it just is not interesting. It might have been a good story had it only been 45-60 mins.

The narration is awkward, slow and irritating. I had to listen to it at 1.2x speed for the speech not to drag to distraction. Once done, it was better, but several of the characters, the female writer & the ultimate protagonist, for example, are so affected as to be grating to hear.

Editing is inconsistent, with many repeats and variations in sound and quality. Quite a few audible page turns by the narrator toward the end
