Publisher's Summary
Welcome back to Virgin River with the books that inspired the hit Netflix series....
John "Preacher" Middleton is closing Jack's Bar when a woman and her young son come in out of the wet night. A marine who has seen his share of pain, Preacher knows a crisis when he sees one - the woman is covered in bruises. He wants to protect them and to punish whoever did this, but he knows immediately that this is more than just instinct. Paige Lassiter has stirred up emotions in this gentle giant of a man - emotions that he has never allowed himself to feel.
Then Paige's ex-husband turns up in Virgin River. And if there's one thing the marines' motto of Semper Fidelis - always faithful - has taught Preacher, it's that some things are worth fighting for.

Before it was adapted into a Netflix show, Virgin River was a series of more than 20 novels by New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr. The audiobooks, all read by Audie Award-winning narrator Thérèse Plummer, are well-loved by a wide audience. The series takes place in Virgin River and revolves around new resident Melinda Monroe, a nurse practitioner and midwife. There's more to this sleepy town than first appearances suggest.

Cheap and predictable
I thought the book was closer to the TV series called Virgin River, but I was disappointed. The characters are idealized. The story sounds like the author’s dream, her Cinderella story. I couldn’t even finish it. I stopped at the sex scene between Preacher and Paige. Completely unnecessary! I did not sign up for reading porn. I would not recommend this book.

A nice novel by Robyn Carr, in the “Virgin River” series
Much has happened since Mel left Los Angeles after the tragic death of her husband. As a competent and compassionate midwife, she has gained the respect of Doc and the love of the community, especially her patients.
The Netflix program of the same name has renewed my interest for the story and characters. In this episode, Mel and Jack are having a baby, and Paige and Preacher are still fighting Wes the abusive husband.
There are many developments and action keeping the reader interested.
I was particularly impressed by the comments of Thérèse Plummer, my favorite reader. She shares the differences between reading and creating a book in one’s mind vs. acting.

I enjoyed this book more than the first!
I really liked the continuation of all the characters and how this book builds off of Virgin River, the first book of the series. Preacher and Paige are the featured love story, but so much happens to the other members of the town. I look forward to reading more of this series!

Not the Netflix Show
I have so far enjoyed the books in this series. But they're not the Netflix show. As in, major plot points are totally different...not just some things were left out because movies can't include everything. So if you're ok with that enjoy! If you want it to be the same story at Netflix, move on.

Great hug of a book
Such a delightful to listen to. I really have enjoyed. I have watched the show and then have delighted in an extra version of the story... wandering who is going to have the mishaps that befall the series characters. Only the role of Hope is so different ...
But Preacher, Paige, and conny are so different they are so delightful too.

Not believable.
I found myself wondering off in my mind mainly because the main characters were not believable. Plus there was the issue with the prem babies that felt awkward and clumsy.
