Publisher's summary
It isn't natural to bury your child, but life doesn't always follow the natural way. Shattered Soul: An Angel Parent's Journey is a story of every parent's worst nightmares, the death of a child. Kristina Widener shares her journey of grief after losing her youngest child to SIDS, her emotions, memories, and how she has coped with it all.
"Welcome to my journey. This has been a road of pain, grief, discovery, loss, healing, joy, love, and so many other things that are hard to put a name on. This is my story, my version of the thoughts and feelings that I have experienced since losing my youngest child. That is a hard statement to say, to write, to read, but it is the cold fact of the matter. I will take you through the roller-coaster ride I have lived, and am still living. I will tell you what I can remember, what I felt, and how I feel now at the time of writing this."
Join Kristina, if only for a brief moment, on her journey. Shattered Soul: An Angel Parent's Journey will take you down an unforgettable path. When you lose a child, you're still a parent, an Angel Parent, and here is the story of one Angel Parent determined to break the silence of her grief.

Story
We live in a world of near-universal acceptance that once our lives on the Earth come to an end, we continue to a greater world. Whether that destination is called heaven, nirvana, or simply the other side, tradition teaches us that there is, in most cases, a fairy-tale ending to life, a place where joy and harmony reign supreme. Yet, as this book attests, there is still more to heaven and Earth than is dreamt of in our philosophies.

Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel Hollis writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

What do you do when the unthinkable happens? Elle Wright had an admittedly easy pregnancy - her scans went well, she and her baby were healthy throughout, and in May 2016, she and her husband welcomed their son, Teddy, into the world. Just a few hours after giving birth, they woke to find a nurse holding a cold and unresponsive Teddy, who had stopped breathing during the night. The happiest day of Elle's life had turned into every parent's worst nightmare, and she had to let her beautiful baby boy go.

Why do moms find themselves settling for a depleted and frustrated existence when motherhood is truly one of the greatest gifts from God? Being a mom is one of the most important-yet-difficult roles a woman will ever fill. Deep in their hearts, many women believe they are failing their families, are emotionally anemic, and are utterly helpless to maintain their peace while raising kids. As a result, hearts and homes are constantly defeated by the "peace pirates" that are allowed to take away the security God paid for His children to have.

Friends and family members often offer comfort with "Everything happens for a reason" - a simple, common phrase with an unbearably elusive meaning. In Everything Happens for a Reason, psychotherapist Mira Kirshenbaum helps us understand the principles behind this frequently used phrase and provides us with tools to grasp its true meaning.

Story
Becoming Duchess Goldblatt is two stories: that of the reclusive real-life writer who created a fictional character out of loneliness and thin air, and that of the magical Duchess Goldblatt herself, a bright light in the darkness of social media. Fans around the world are drawn to Her Grace's voice, her wit, her life-affirming love for all humanity, and the fun and friendship of the community that's sprung up around her.

Heartbreaking
This book was truly heartbreaking. The narrator's emotions were spot on. I cried when she cried.
There were good points regarding grief in here. If for no other reason, you should listen to this for that. Some people try to be well-meaning, and just end up being offensive.
While this might be hard to listen to if you have lost a child, I recommend anyway. It's very well written and very honest. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to put myself out in front of everyone like this. So bravo to the author.

A beautiful heartwarming story
Shattered Soul is a beautiful and heartwarming real story about love and learning to live with the grief of losing a baby. The book is powerful and real she doesn't pull any punches you can feel the pain in your soul. I now truly understand what my mother and grandmother went through when they both lost a baby to SIDS.
Erika Cockerham is a phenomenal narrator you can feel the emotion and turmoil in her voice as she tell you what happened. I highly recommend this book to everyone in case this happens it will help you to help the family. May all of God's little Angels receive their wings and soar in the Heavens.
I received this audio book at my request and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review of my own volition. My prayers are for her family and others out there dealing with the grief.

Angel Mom's Journey
Shattered Soul
An Angel Parent's Journey
This is an open and honest story of a mother's journey after the death of her child. My heart traveled along with her each and every minute of this audiobook. I felt her pain and anger. Nobody told me that memory loss was an effect of grief, until I experienced it. I'm an angel mom. My angel was 14 years old, but I felt and still feel all the emotions 15 years later. My husband and I weathered the storm and our remaining child (now an adult) have leaned on each other for strength. I want people to remember my DeeAnna, and not be afraid to say her name. I hope people will keep Zack's memory alive for you. One day we will see our angels again. This is a must read or listen for any angel families and friends.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Erika Cockerham showed all the emotions throughout the book.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
