Listened to this with some of my elderly patients. And one of them said “you can’t even rate this, it’s better than an A+!”

Shattered Reflection

Shattered Reflections by M. J. Emerson is a great women’s small town fiction. Hailey Kinnaman did a great job with the narration. The story is inspiring, interesting, emotional, good paced, well written, and more.

A Narration That Brings the Story to Life

The narrator does a wonderful job bringing Shattered Reflections to life. Her voice is warm, clear, and full of emotion, and the pacing makes it easy to stay immersed. From the very first chapter, she draws you in and carries you through both the quieter, introspective moments and the more intense scenes with just the right amount of feeling—never overdone.

While the book itself has a few cliché or repetitive moments, the overall plot is engaging and the story offers meaningful inspiration, especially for anyone experiencing grief. The narration adds depth and emotional resonance, making it a rewarding listen. A great audiobook that’s hard to put down, especially as you wait for the plot twist to unfold.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Slow Burn That's Absolutely Worth It

Shattered Reflections is an intentional slow burn, and that's one of its greatest strengths. Rather than rushing from one big moment to the next, it takes the time to develop its characters and relationships, making every emotional payoff feel earned. When the story finally hits, it hits hard.

The characters are authentic and layered, with believable flaws and growth that kept me invested throughout. The narration elevates the experience even further, delivering each scene with emotion and excellent pacing that perfectly matches the story's tone.

If you're looking for nonstop action, this may not be the book for you. But if you appreciate thoughtful character development, emotional depth, and a story that rewards your patience, Shattered Reflections is a fantastic listen. It's one that will stay with me long after the final chapter.

Dull read, GREAT audio!!!

The vibes are vibing, right off the bat ;)
I love a good fresh start, and brave FMC.

Written in first-person POV.
Present tense.

Sadly, the intrigue ended with the ‘new beginning’, as this was a slow-paced, slice-of-life-filled read, where nothing actually happens.

Fresh start.
Small town.
She’s a widow.
Grief representation.

Overall:
It does take a look at grief, but didn’t delve in really deeply. Not terrible, just not for me.
