"Conundrums, upon Inigmas, upon dilemmas"
This is my #1 favorite series, but this is not my favorite book. Usually, I'd ride the J.Y. bandwagon down hill with no brakes, but not for this installment. If this was some random book from nowhere it might get a higher rating, but Jane Yellowrock is held to a higher standard.
On a positive note, Beast is so entertaining in this book. She still wants to hunt Bison in Edmond's car... Please Goddess of Love let her hunt in that car! She has been asking for 6 books now 🤣.
Now, if you're still reading this then you must want to know my grievances, so dont leave me nasty messages just because you dont agree. But I'm ok if we see things differently... let's discuss like big boys and girls.
My issues:
1. Has it gone too far with some of these storylines? At this point there are so many details that it didnt stop at complicated, it ran over confusing, and then fly past conundrums. 😓😳
Ex: The Son of Darkness ( a vampire) starts to grow an exoskeleton turning himself into some kind of insect so he can walk through time with the rainbow dragons that he caught in a crystal who are from another world but stuck here because vampires guard the gates to their home and so these dragons want to go back in time and destroy all vampires but the witches to do a time circle wont let them out because they are being flayed by the S.O.D whom I said before is turning into an insect.
2. Jane doesnt need any more super powers. Her character was fine before all this time walking crap. In this book, she is now the ruler of these rainbow Dragons who dont listen to a word she says. And then right at the low point she figures out this new power to "change" her magic. Her words not mine.
3. Chapter 16 has so much whining. Bruiser, goes on and on about Leo made me a bad guy... leo made me do this and that... blag blah blah. We are in Book 13 dont need all this cry baby stuff.
4. We constantly get reminded that the sons of darkness sacrificed their sister and ate her body... over and over... I got do tired of hearing this.
5. Jane doesnt believe in ghost... all the vampires, werewolves, rainbow dragons, and Angel's but you have the audacity to not believe in ghost... 😒really? I'm not sure why but that just irked me.
If you've ever read any of my reviews then you know I love a good detailed and complicated story. But this one gets to the point where its ridiculous.
Can we get back to the vampire politics and fighting? We did the magical dragons and explored the angel thing... now let's go back to what made us live this series. Jane needs to travel to Europe and kick some vampire butt. Bring Leo back and we can find out if he and Jane clash or not... so many other options that this road.
Again just my opinion. But as a loyal fan, I'll be reading the next one. And all the ones after that. Just hope they aren't like this one.
Khristine Hvam is perfect and one of the best parts of this series.
2 Stars 🌟🌟- Decent. Has Potential. Possibly a good idea for a story but something could have been better.

Everyone: How do you top Dark Queen? Faith: Watch!
When you have been writing a series for a long time it is easy enough to start being redundant. As a reader that is the last thing that you want to happen. There are some series out there that should just end, however for us Faith Hunter this series is not the case.
I have to admit that I have no idea what I was getting into. The way that Dark Queen ended I thought there was no way anything can top that. Looks like I was wrong.
Jane is dying from cancer and there is nothing her, Molly, or anyone can do. Throughout the entire story I was waiting for someone to save her. In this story everyone seemed to be working at 70%. I am glad that people where not at 100% be it with their emotions or just physically.
I am glad that everyone that mattered to Jane was there supporting her and letting her know that claiming them as family and not actually acting as family is not what she is doing.
There were new characters and old characters. There are also new situations that are happening.
There are a couple of things that popped up within this book that I am intrigued about. I cannot wait until the next book but can wait since Beast has a FB page.

Another thriller
Shattered bonds
Dark feeling in the beginning and then it gets worse. Another vampire bully, who seems to channel a malicious entity of some sort. Jane gathers what allies she still has. Lots of bad feeling about the way Jane took off from NOLA and lack of communication. Jane wanted to withdraw and there were lots of hurt feelings over this. So there is a sort of cloud over this book. We watch it play out, not being able to guess how things will turn out. Faith’s Yellowrock series is always a scary and complicated read and Shattered Bonds was no exception. There are still hanging threads to be sorted out and the next book is at least 18 months out, which is a hard wait. There was a surprise revelation from an angel. The arconciels are fractious and there is a European mythrin war going on, Bruiser needs to figure out his purpose, but the ending was satisfying even with hanging threads.

WOW
Faith Hunter does it again. Just when I think maybe the Jane Yellowrock series must fizzle out, an new, or old...dilemma or adversary appears that push Jane to a whole new level of self examination and physial stamana. Shattered-Bonds does just that and so much more! I love and hate these characters more than ever. I can see a relisten in the very near future. I'm sure I missed some details while I was consumed with others.

Twists and turns in new Jane Yellowrock adventure
These kind of novels is very difficult to listen, as in times you have to go back to make sure you understand things correctly, in times you just wish you can skip a few pages, as your heart pounds in excitement or terror and just get to see if everything or everyone is ok, and when you finally finish, it's like... hot coal, it's already finished? You must be joking!
Faith Hunter has created an amazing world, marvelous characters whom we love, or love to hare, and Shattered Bonds is no exception. Jane really faces here with the biggest bad of all, actually two if them- her magical cancer and Son of Darkness 2. But there is much more to the novel than just sickness and fight. Many pieces finally start falling together, and I do recommend reread /relisten of previous books in the series, at least last 4, to be able to perfectly understand in this one.
Kristine Hvam has done an amazing job, as always.
maybe the best Hunter's book ever!
Not to be listened to as stand-alone.

no doubt my favourite one of the series
I admit that when it came out back in 2019 I didn't have the stomach to read it because there is so much heartache in this series but now that I've finally picked it up I'm glad I did.
Yes, there is still so much grief on it, but at the same time there is so much love. Love of friends, of family, of a significant other. Jane has to rely on others because the magic she's been absorbing throughout the series is killing her, but they don't let her down.
It was beautiful, and it gave Jane closure on so many fronts. I can't wait to see what comes next

Faith does it again!
Adored the book. Adored it. Faith is definitely my favourite author and knocked it out of the park. If this series never ends, so much the better :) If you've not read or listened to the Jane Yellowrock series (narrated by the amazing Khristine Hvam), what are you doing?! :D

Superb!
A series that gets better with each book & a narrator that is one of the best out there for this genre & I’ve listened to several books a month. All the different voices used are amazing & fit each character so perfectly be it Angie-baby, Bruiser or “Beast is best hunter”. This will be a series I suspect I will return to

Shattered Bonds
If possible, this story has been the best yet. It made me so incredibly emotional, on every level.
Both Ms. Hunter and Ms. Vham did MAGNIFICENT jobs with this.

Good, but not as great as others in the series
I still enjoyed this story, but I found it a little too convenient how the attacks were nicely spaced out so they weren’t ever overwhelmed. If they’d been attacked twice in a row they would have been doomed. I’ll still keep buying future books in the series and by this author.

Must say I was impressed
After the end of the massive story arc climaxing with the Dark Queen I wasnt sure how Faith Hunter could kick on with more gripping excitement. I needn't have worried.
This book carries on a short time after the end of Dark Queen and no way can it be read stand alone.
A new evil comes to cause havoc in Janes world and the story features most of the surviving favourites, as usual its a page turner expertly narrated by Khristine Hvam
I've listened to some inferior stories in the year since Dark Queen and this brought back to me just what I have been missing anyone who likes the other books wont be disappointed.

The best!
Book 13 in this series and I think its the best yet. Faith has taken her well loved and established characters and given them more layers and depth. Fast paced story, surprises, laughs, action and so much heart. Absolutely love this story and this series.

Great narration and story
This author and narrator combination work really well together. The story is delivered with a voice that draws me in and I become part of it. As always Faith Hunter has delivered a gem of a book. Fans will again appreciate the experience of Jane Yellowrock's life.

Story
In the supernatural realms, there are creatures who belong to winter. I am not one of them. But like the coyote I can become at will, I am adaptable. My name is Mercy Thompson Hauptman, and my mate, Adam, is the werewolf who leads the Columbia Basin Pack, the pack charged with keeping the people who live and work in the Tri-Cities of Washington State safe. It’s a hard job, and it doesn’t leave much room for side quests. Which is why when I needed to travel to Montana to help my brother, I intended to go by myself.
