5 Stars

I love this series. Every book is fun and humorous with witty dialogue. The mystery is well written and has lots of twists and turns. Deana, Gary and the rest of the characters are engaging and realistic. I devoured this book in one day of chores and errands and I look forward to the next book.

A Great Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining. How much trouble can a small time journalist get herself into? The adventure never stops in this small Texan town for retire school teacher turned jounalist, Deena Sharpe. Can you be charged for stealing your own body from a funeral home? Deena is about to find out when her elderly neighbor tries. It's a great combination of suspense and humour in the sunny state to Texas. Well worth listening too.

Deena Sharpe does it again...

Can you imagine seeing your own obituary in the newspaper? Well that’s exactly what happened to Deena’s neighbor, and things just went downhill from there. Deena follows all the twists and turns to get to the bottom of things.

Lisa B. Thomas knows what it takes to write a great cozy mystery. I’m certainly going to miss this series and all the great characters.

Kelley Hazen’s performance is entertaining and enjoyable. Well done!

Great Read

Sharpe Wit (Second Act Snoop Mysteries Book Eight) was another great read by Lisa B. Thomas. Deena Sharpe was told by her editor that someone is trying to steal a body from the Maycroft funeral home. The editor tasked Deena with investigating the crime. The cops have some explaining to do when it turns out the body isn’t who they thought it was. This story had lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing. I enjoyed reading Deena’s investigation and can’t wait to read more by Lisa B. Thomas.

An entertaining addition to the series

I've come back to Maycroft after quite a break to follow another of Deena Sharpe's adventures - and it felt like coming home:)

As always, the book is fast-paced, with an intriguing mystery to be solved, with lots of twists and turns and all the possible red herrings you can imagine (and even some you can't:)) and characters that are as colourful as you wish for in a good cozy mystery. Deena follows her gut feeling even when there seemingly is nothing to follow, and she ususally turns out to be right without sounding conceited or self-assured; she's her old warmhearted , friendly self, ready to help everyone around but at the same time persistently looking for truth... Generally, a great addition to the series.

As always, Ms Hazen does a great job narrating the story. The characters come to life with her voice and ring true, and the pace of her reading is OK.

Fun Series

I enjoyed listening to this fun lighthearted at times funny mystery, Deena is a retire teacher and investigator and main character who is crime reporter and trying to solve the murder of Rocky B who was mistaken for her neighbor Edwin Cooper (an elderly cranky man) There are some twists and turns especially when he really dies and has wills for his granddaughter and friend. Gary has opened his new business and Deena quits her job and await next book. Narrator does great with the characters and recommend to anyone who enjoys a fun, easy mystery with twists and older women. I was this free review copy audiobook by Storyteller and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you
