Publisher's summary

You don’t choose the Academy. The Academy chooses you.

"Bold twist on a classic magical young-adult adventure." (Jaymin Eve, best-selling author of Supernatural Academy)

Broken, bruised, and battered beyond anything else, I’ve survived what I shouldn’t have.

But my day isn’t done yet. We finally have the key to stopping Frost - literally. Even if we don’t know how to use it.

One last time, my friends and I have to scour not only the city but the supernatural world to find the pieces of this final puzzle - and we have three days to do it.

One final showdown brings us back to where it all began, and I face off against the woman who killed my brother. Who hunted my mother down. Who broke my uncle’s spirit.

If I cannot find the final pieces, then I will fail. And if I fail, Frost wins, and we are all doomed.

No pressure.

No pressure at all.

great wrap up to the series!

All the craziness, action heartfelt angst, family & made family you can handle, with everything tied up nearly in a bow.

Outstanding endpoint

This was a delight of a series well crafted tight with very interesting characters and plot twist’s galore. On top of that it was narrated by Ms Hvam who has rapidly become my favorite audiobook narrator

HOLY CATS!!! What an Ending!!!

Make sure you read these in order because Mayer doesn’t waste ANY time jumping right into the climax for the end of the Year of the Chameleon books (for now). For the past 6 books, these unique, fascinating, and inspiring characters have captivated me, and this ending lives up to the hype of all the other Shadowspell books combined. In true Mayer fashion, she brilliantly blurs the line between villain and anti-hero in some of the villains, keeping you on your toes to the very end.

I wasn’t prepared; however; for this story to punch me right in the feels several times. This isn’t a very touchy/feely series at all, but this story just had some surprisingly emotional moments to it. I also had some definite chills at times which is always a sign of masterful storytelling.

My only complaint would be once the conflict is over, the end is pretty abrupt. I wish there was a little more insight to what the repercussions to the final battle will mean to this fantastic world both K.F. Breene and Shannon Mayer originally created. BUT I guess it leaves the door open for future books. Yet I still craved at least a LITTLE more foreshadowing to what challenge Wild and her remaining crew could possibly face next. Again, it’s nit-picky, but it’s only because she’s spoiled us with possible paths for her characters in her other series’ in the past.

Of course, this all means I naturally want her to keep going with more on these amazing characters as soon as she can. Or as soon as she and Breene can partner up again.

What a Year!

Shannon Mayer brings you to the brink again and again in the final book of the Year of the Chameleon. In her typical fashion there are many twists and turns while Wilde and her crew seek the solution to their epic problems! I thoroughly enjoyed the overt and not so overt lessons that the author and characters have taught us throughout this series. They faced so many internal and external struggles that you can't help but relate to them.

Khristine Hvam does another superb job narrating!

I cannot wait to listen to the series again from beginning to end!

Thrill ride

This story continues to be a rollercoaster of an adventure. All together Wild and her crew grow stronger as they unravel the story of the keys and how Frost became the monster she is.

Still not sure of who outside her circle to put her faith in they keep fighting off the darkness along the way.

This story was riveting all the way to the end and has some serious feels. I would recommend this series! It has heart and mystery and action as well some entertaining people who help soften the edges of all the drama.

Amazing finale

Honestly had a hard time putting to words what I wanted to say, the group dynamic was epic! How the last book turns full circle from the first is great. I love that characters are never forgotten. This was the absolute best ending to a series I could have asked for.
Wally is a world unto her own, she stands for everything you could desire in a best friend: fierce and loyal! Her power is the soft forgotten kind, sort of a wallflower, until you mess with her best and then BAM she surprises you.
Ethan’s ending was absolutely perfect, Wonderbread the Redeemer! I love to watch a character struggle with ingrained doctrination versus their own morals and when they finally figure it out it’s perfect.
And Nicholas…oh my words, that was possibly the best arc of the entire series, he’s the type of person you find yourself rooting for but really don’t want to. I’m glad I did!!

And the best part of all? Remember family is the most important thing in the world, and it doesn’t matter if it’s blood or built love it and cherish it
