Mature, but engaging

Great production if your a fan of dramatic audio books. Plot is generally good, lots of decent twists as well. The only thing that could be a potential issue for some is the mature themes of the book. The world they live in is full of rape, torture, and pretty much all forms of other horrendous acts including child murder. Honestly it’s a bit overbearing at times, especially with the dramatic audio, but is justifiable as it serves a purpose in the world building for the story. There are some “sex scenes” as well that I don’t really mind since they do further the plot. If you don’t mind the contents stated above I strongly recommend. Definitely not for children if that wasn’t obvious already.

Great Sequel, Too Many SFX

This story really expanded upon the first nicely. Plenty of clever dialogue to keep me interested, and there were pivotal moments that stirred my emotions unexpectedly.

The dramatized performance is sooo much better than the regular audiobook, and not missing much (if any?) of the original text. Also, here everybody pronounces Kylar the same way (Ky-ler, which is correct IMO), unlike the regular audiobook narrator calling him KY-LARR, which actually annoyed me so much I returned it. I was happy to find this wonderfully dramatized version.

The only thing that repeatedly got on my nerves was the very loud, overbearing sfx of bloody action and fight scenes. It’s just too much and goes on for way too long nearly every time. I GET IT! Lots of people are dying horribly! I don’t need to hear EVERY fucking agonizing scream or EVERY body being ripped to pieces. It’s laughable how long some of those scenes go on, and it really took me out of the story at times instead of hooking me in. The narrators are great, but I’d cut the sfx sequences in half and drop them by about 2 decibels for better enjoyment. Skipped through quite a few of those.

I ultimately enjoyed this book quite a lot, and I’m looking forward to the 3rd dramatization.

kekwari

So many things were quite needless (examples being the actions of the protagonist and female leads) honestly sometimes only the sideline plots kept me going, still a good listen. I can not stand the ads, I'll never read those other books ever

Awesome

This book is amazing but it’s that much better hearing all the characters come to life through the voice actors. They’ve done something magical!

jaw dropping

I'm attuned by this book, twists and turns I never expected. I very much enjoy this series. Enough darkness to appease and disgust and heroism to conquer all. Can't wait to finish the series.

Much improvement over book 1

Pacing is much better and several reasonably timed plots to help continue the series. Looking forward to listening to the next book

I'm not a fan of the dramatized adaptation

I love the books. I like the regular audiobooks better. I love and recommend the series.

awful audiobook, great book. just get the version narrated by Steven pacey.

had an advertisement midbook around chapter 7 for other products. audio balancing is really off with the sounds they add in that make it hard to hear the main narrator. question audio editing throughout. the readers themselves were not awful, but not great either, just so overshadowed by what amounts to be an overproduced version of the story that unfortunately ruins what is an otherwise amazing story.

book 1 was great! book 2 is just falls way short.

book 2 was just so focused on sex and romantics that bogs the story down. makes it hard to want to get through.

it went from being a serious professional story to what I equate to a Spanish novela.
