really great listen

kept me interested. Female lead who has doesn't act dumb. don't know how books dnf because female lead keeps doing dumb things. the va was also really great.

Urban fantasy

Shadowed Relics by G. J. Ogden and Sabrina Vale is an excellent urban paranormal thriller. Katie Boothe did an incredible job with the narration and bringing the story to life. The story is entertaining, suspenseful, interesting, fast paced, action, thrilling, suspenseful, funny, and more. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.highly recommended

Excellent strong clever female characters

This one is best for mystery lovers ... lots of interesting characters, excellent women main characters, clever women solving problems.

I’d listen to this narrator read anything.

Honestly, I read this book because I am a fan of Boothe’s work. It all started with the Graphic audio of FBAA and now she’s one of my top girls. I’d listen to her read the phone book. This one didn’t disappoint either. I don’t know how she can make an entire book full of characters sound different but she does it flawlessly.

Bonus points that she fits the vibe of a snarky PI in the most believable of ways.

The book itself was really interesting. I love the concept of modern day/other world cross overs. The tie in was really neat.

It just never connected …

I am not really much of a fan for the First Person Present tense PoV … and it seemed like the uninspiring narration didn’t help there at all with limited character differences as well as the unrealistic and often over the top emotive dialog (arrogant bad guys are an extremely over used trope). Still … the premise was so promising, I really wanted to like the book … I just couldn’t. Way too my telling/exposition and not enough showing/action was a huge flaw. Along with that, the personal drama just wasn’t that interesting and threatened to over whelm the plot at times … which comes across more mechanical than inspired … devoid of humor (black or otherwise).
