Old friends, including Lestrade and Mycroft, assist Holmes and Watson in their quest. In America, the pair enlists new allies: a Pinkerton agent with a past, a Seminole showman, a blind photographer whose cameras capture the spirit world, and a strange little boy destined for a frightening future.

But Holmes and Watson are being stalked, not only by Alice Telfair and her hideous assistant, but also by a mysterious interloper whose quest for justice stretches from beyond the grave.

Sunshine State Homes

A darker Homes travels with Doctor Watson to the Sunshine State to unravel various occurrences and a blood sacrifice.

A departure from the usual pastiche.

For what it’s worth, this series of books is one of the handful of Holmes books which cross the line into fantasy novels. Some may find that tedious and childish. Others may regale in the opportunity to partake.

One thing that I believe should be a universal opinion, like the books or not, is that these are penned by one of several pastiche authors whom render Watson intolerably slow witted and heavy handed. I wouldn’t say it “ruined” things for me but it was definitely a source of aggravation. Watson is supposed to represent average intelligence, juxtaposed with Holmes’s uber-enlightened state of being. Not the lowest common denominator as he is here, next to a Holmes who is supposedly not of this earth. The classic duo worked for a reason and when the fundamentals of it are messed with, well 🤷🏼‍♂️…

Holmes & Watson adventure into dark places

Sherlock Holmes is a man with magical abilities as well and his deductive skills. In this 2nd novel of the 3 book Tracy Revel series, the duo are on the hunt of a dangerous witch who engages in blood magic. They hunt her in Europe then in America with the help of some familiar characters as well as some new companions. The narration by Michael Langan is outstanding. He creates unique voices of all of the characters with different accents and dialects. He brings them characters and the dark story to life.
