Publisher's Summary

In order to finally claim her title of Chosen and lead the Shadow People out of the Land of Mist, Shanti must make it through a centuries-old system to test her battle awareness, her fighting skill, and her ability to stay alive. She's about to enter The Trials, and she must do it alone.

Separated from Shanti on a dangerous island, Cayan must learn to use his mental skill while keeping his men safe from the people set out to kill them. But as more Inkna and Graygual flood the island, Cayan hears of a sinister force deep in the woods, rigging The Trials and killing any who venture too close.

It is now a race against time. The battle to become the Chosen has begun, and the victor is anything but decided.

Book 3

Any additional comments?

Adventurous, fighting, battle planning, trials, poisoning, friendship, trust, and romance all wrapped up in this exciting third edition to The Warrior Chronicles series. This book really delivers it all. Highly recommend the series and this book. Book could be read as a standalone but I'd suggest reading the first two books first.

Such a wonderfully done Audiobook!

First off, please read my book review on Amazon! I don't want to repeat all the great things I said, for it is totally awesome! I generally do immersion reading when it is available, even if it's not yet on Whispersync, I listen and read at the same time. Enough of a qualifier statement. Caitlin Davies was such a great pick for this series, the amount of voices is great, she brings such life to all the characters, most of all, is Shanti, of course! To my imagination, which is extensive LOL! I was there in K F Breene's world, an observer to all that is happening, I can't say how thankful I am for arts of work like this, to be brought to life in this way, with just audio you can close your eyes, and boom..your there being brought this overwhelming world of Mental Mages, mental warfare, and martial warfare, which in this soldiers mind, is the most honorific! This audiobook is so wonderfully hypnotic. I had to turn it off while driving one time due to almost causing accidents everywhere!! The comedy, romance and lust are so powerful!!! But this now and join me in this delicious world...

I LOVE this series!

Shadowlands was a wonderful addition to a series that I have fallen in love with. It is filled with adventure and yes! Romance. Nothing too sappy but I did get watery eyes a couple times :-)

Love it!

I'll get back to you after I finish the series, but for now, Shanti's story is only getting more intense. The characters are complex and endearing, the stakes are high, and the action only stops long enough to add more layers to the plot and characters. Even the secondary characters are engaging. KF Breene is really a great genre fiction writer who deserves more space on bookshelves.

Excellent story & narrating.

Once again, a captivating continuation of the Warrior's Chronicles. I was engrossed the whole time with the story & impressed in how many voices the narrator can do and do well. This series, writer, & narrator is the whole package! ❤️

Extremely frustrating

If you like the words F’s C’s balls, bastards and any other bad language you can think of, then you will like this really poorly scripted audio . The American reading it is very irritating “ gonna “ “ cut to the chase” where did this poor English come from ?
If I could give a zero I would do so . People rating this higher what on earth do you listen to and read. ?

Disappointed

The narration was so bad I couldn’t listen to the monotone rendering of what I’d hoped would be a good story. I tried in vain to ignore the boring voice with the thick American accent to hear the story for the longest two chapters of my life But I just could not bear it. The story didn’t grab me and I could not get over the dreadful narration. Needless to say I won’t be purchasing any further stories read by this narrator or author poor performance all around

Good series, abysmal narrator

This narrator is getting worse. I only made it to chapter two of this book and I simply cannot make myself listen to her anymore. She ‘sing-songs’ each sentence, has predictable speech patterns and generally sucks. She makes Shanti (our heroine) thoroughly boring and unlikeable, when I know, from previously reading this series, that whilst, Shanti is smart and determined, she is also irreverent and a bit of prankster.
I will be taking Audible up on their offer to get a refund for these books.
However, the series is actually good (if two books too long) and worth reading.

Loving this series and the narration is perfect

The story is getting good. Just great character development and the banter between them is very enjoyable.
I really enjoy listening to this and think that Caitlin Davies is doing a great job capturing the dry laconic essence that Shanti is to me. But also when the action kicks off she brings it up a notch.

Great story to listen to

I was going to use Whispersync for Shadow Lands, and switch between reading the ebook and listening to the Audible version - but I enjoyed the Audible so much that I couldn't bring myself to jump ahead in listening after I read some of the ebook, and instead listened to the whole version. It's a great story to listen to.

I loved that Shanti and Cayan's relationship progresses in Shadow Lands - in the previous books it was more about their chemistry. When Cayan tells Shanti what 'mesasha' means........swoon!! Lots of action and fight scenes as well, the Graygual and Inkna are preparing for battle, meanwhile Shanti is also being tested by the Shadow People by entering The Trials. She has to finish successfully to be deemed worthy of their support.

My favourite secondary characters, other than Shanti's boys, would have to be Sanders and Ruisa. Ruisa especially, as she proves how useful she is after having so many doubt her.
