Sean's spent the last 16 years of his life using his powers in a never-ending quest of exacting vengeance while saving the lives of innocent victims. The problem however, is that's all Sean has been doing. Forced to hide who and what he is from the world, Sean's life has become a fairly meaningless existence.

But after an unexpected weekend with a rather willing woman, Sean suddenly realizes that there's a lot more to life than an endless stream of criminals and vengeance. It's time to let someone else punish the guilty.

It's time to start enjoying life.

Highly recommended

Probably the best book this author has written. Action packed and shows a perspective from a villain or anti-hero that isn't cliche.

A little bit of bad, a little bit of goob, or some of both.

Shadow, a weircat shifter drifts into town looking for a fresh start in the bad part of town. His car half is pure preaditor, killing without qualms. Following his own set of values. He's hounded by the city's supers for no reason! ... Well, I'm there may be a dead guy, or twelve, and the odd bank loan here or there, then there's a fem super with a taste for cats. But Shadow Cat's just trying g to get along! And sex, rather a lot of sex, and gruesome killings. But hey, give it a try!

funny and great listen

Want more books like this it was funnier than I'd expected. The book drew me in and I couldn't stop listening to it till the end. Highly recommend this to many, as well as those who don't mind some things being rather perverted or crossing morals.

Not that I can complain it was a very good listen.

conflicted

I really wanted to enjoy this book and I mostly did. The plot was great b/c I'm a sucker for badass antiheroes and Shadow seemed to fit that bill. Maybe its because nothing in reality is black and white so operating in the grey is more relatable. That being said I really didn't like that the MC backstory was revealed near the end of the book. He constantly refers to himself as "BAD" but not "EVIL" throughout the book but there weren't any hints to his past previous to his revelation near the end. This made me think throughout the book that it was either not important to the story or that author simply forgot to include one. Another major annoyance were all the time skips. like between 1 week to 1 year randomly per chapter. It was disorienting when the MC was doing something seemingly important in one chapter and then the next chapter it skips forward 3 months. I think the whole story takes place over 9 years but the events that happen seem randomly and unevenly dispersed. This also created a perspective of multiple endings. There were 3 or 4 times that I felt like the book was wrapping up and then it would skip forward a year and continue. My last issue was the sex scenes. They were numerous to the point of happening multiples times per chapter but never in any detail. For example, "he took her to his bed and fucked her brains out" and then a half a chapter later, "he pinned her to wall and fucked her brains out". I feel like if your going to incorporate sex into your book you should at least make it interesting and not sound repetitive.

Good storyline, disappointing execution.

Story was interesting in premise. Characters, especially female, were rather one dimensional. Reader performance was monotonous and had very little character differential which only added to the thin character development.

Another Excellent Story!

Another Genre another excellent story by Jan Stryvant! I enjoyed the character progression throughout this book and I certainly enjoyed the plot it was nice to have a complete story in one book. But I certainly wouldn’t complain to revisiting the characters in a new story! The narration was excellent and helped to set the tone for the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys hard action, hard loving any books where decisions are not necessarily black and white.

Strong start veers into countless smut

Excellent descriptive writing when it came to scenes other than those involving sex. I found myself tuning out during such sections, which are countless and occur many times per chapter. Certain decisions by the main character were very much out of character and perhaps the author overlooked the plot in preference for added smut.
