Isaac is an educated slave owned by a man who does not recognize Isaac’s humanity but has a greedy desire to exploit Isaac’s unique talents. Isaac’s biggest fear is losing his family. A man wants to protect his family but Isaac is helpless against the forces playing out around him. The closer freedom seems the farther it moves away. Hank Hansohn is a son of German immigrants growing up in Minnesota Territory with a strong sense of duty. Just a year after Minnesota gains its statehood the Civil War breaks out and President Lincoln calls for men to join the Union to fight to hold the United States together. At the same time the Sioux revolt in Minnesota in what is known as the other American Civil War. Shades of Right is a story of two men moving through their lives until one day their paths cross in a profound way. Inspired by true events that took place in Missouri in 1862, Shades of Right takes us down that heart wrenching path where doing the right thing outweighs anything else.
