Publisher's Summary

Sex. In a world overwhelmingly obsessed with it, why is the church so silent about it? While our secular culture twists, perverts, cheapens, and idolizes sex, there are gaping holes in the church's guidance of young people. The result is generations of sexually illiterate people drowning in the repercussions of overwhelming sin struggles.

Enough is enough, says Mo Isom. With raw vulnerability and a bold spirit, she shares her own sexual testimony, opening up the conversation about misguided rule-following, virginity, temptation, porn, promiscuity, false sex-pectations, sex in marriage, and more and calling listeners back to God's original design for sex - a way to worship and glorify him. This audiobook is for the young person tangled up in an addiction to pornography, for the girlfriend feeling pressured to go further, for the "good girl" who followed the rules and saved herself for marriage and then was confused and disappointed, for the married couple who use sex as a bargaining tool, for every person who casually watches sex play out in TV and movies and wonders why they're dissatisfied with the real thing, and for every confused or hurting person in-between.

Sex was God's idea. It's time we invited him back into the bedroom.

A Little Disappointed

With a title as provocative as this, I expected more explicit details from the author on real and practical solutions to the problems we face in marriage as a result of not being taught the true meaning and value of sex. I thought she would go more in depth about the potential consequences of being raised to believe sex is a sin, and offer some tips on how to overcome those hurdles. Instead what I heard was pretty much what the church has always preached with one variation: virginity is not simply a physical thing. There are things you could do that will diminish your purity while still maintaining your virginity, and it's purity; not simply virginity; that God wants from us. That was the only new thing I heard. The rest was really all about the author and her testimony which was well-told and relatable, but ultimately pretty useless to me as someone in search of real answers. I get it, pray for God's help, but as the author herself points out: God doesn't simply give you the ability to overcome, he gives you opportunities to overcome. Cool, so what are some things I could put into practice when those opportunities arise? I also didn't like how briefly she talked about masturbation; simply glossing over it as something that shouldn't be done. But as a military spouse who is often away from my husband, we need to find different ways to be intimate with each other.
I applaud the author for being a capable narrator, at no point was I bored or annoyed by her voice. However, unless you just want to hear about this chick's life and how great God is (he really is but that's not what I bought this book for), then this one is not for you.

A must read!

The title read true... the church definitely forgot to tell of this story and this type of perception. What a beautiful, reality strewn, struggle to get to Holiness. Absolutely needed in this culture. What an amazing story of God’a redemption and pursuit.

I wasn’t even half way through this book when I started sending links to people. EVERY SINGLE HUMAN needs to read this book. If you’ve struggles with sexual sins or you need to understand the biblical stand on sex (which I’d say everyone fits into at least one of those categories) then get this. Our society, our world needs this message just immensely. My prayer is this book reaches the hearts of millions and truly transforms their life inside out. Thank you Mo Isom for this... just wow. Absolutely brilliant.

So much needed truth!!

I love Mo, I follow her in social media and have had the blessing of meeting her a few times. God has appointed her to be a voice for our generation & and I couldn’t be more thankful for her testimony that continues to speak truth and grace into my life. Thank you Mo for sharing your sexual testimony! It has indeed set the captives free & led them down the road of righteousness with Jesus Christ.

A Conversation That Won't Be Forgotten

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am actually going to listen back through it again and take notes for future reference. I loved hearing the book from Mo herself and the conviction and authenticity put into every word. As I listened to her story, it touched me in my own personal experiences and how I'm going to strive to continue to live a holy life in this aspect. Not only did it affect me personally, but I shared it and will continue to share it with other friends who I know will need to hear this. It's something I would want to teach my own children in the future (if that time comes).
This is an overall great read and I'm thankful to you Mo for having the courage and willingness to share your personal testimony through this avenue. It'll speak to and change many lives. It's changing one already. :)

wow

wow, I'm going to have to go through all of this a few more times...

Mo unabashedly starts and consistently maintains being 100% real with you through the whole book. She tells it raw and unearths your heart, hurts, concerns, facades, excuses, and habits right to the surface where you have to decide whether to deal with them or passively allow them to remain buried with a wayward heart.
The authenticity of her story will resonate with most people who choose to be open and honest.

10/10. Will listen again.
