Publisher's Summary

Senator Rylos bought me. But he'll never make me his.

I'll admit those are strong words for a woman who trembles at his touch. But I can't help it. His kind are as beautiful as they are cruel.

We crashed on his planet ten years after we fled Earth. Instead of helping us, they imprisoned us, then sold us off to the highest bidder.

I was the last human sold. Too much bad behavior. Yet Rylos dared to buy me and call me his pet.

He might be genetically engineered perfection on the outside, but I won't let him have me, no matter how hard it is to resist him. Because my goal is to escape.

I keep telling myself it'll be easy. Why does it feel like I'm lying?

QUICK READ!

I enjoyed it. This book was over very quickly but did not lack in entertainment. The narration was very good. This author did a great job with her characters. This was my first book by this author but definitely will not be my last. I look forward to reading other stories in this series. Perfection on The Outside Does Not Translate Into Beauty Within

An interesting SiFi I wasn’t uncertain about at the beginning, but grew and interested me as it went along.
Earth was invaded by some alien race and many people ran, going into space to find a planet like earth. Marion was engineer on a ship that crashed on Korystus. The planet has genetically engineer people who are flawless physically and treat the people who crashed like animals. Marion is aggressively trying to escape.
She is bought by a senator, Ryos, to whom she finds herself attracted and treats her better than she had been for the last year.
This is a story of failing to communicate, judging unfairly and on singular experiences.
Narrator is more a 3.5...I have listen to a number of books she has narrated and there has been marked improvement! Continuing to clean up the ending of sentences, having better flow, not being so extreme in the variety of voices and emotions. A huge improvement in the male voices! Keep it up! After this book I look forward to more of the narrators books.

Keep this audio pet near your heart

This is my first listen from the author but not my first from the narrator Meghan Kelly . As always. Meghan did a beyond fantastic reading. Loved how the author Avery Rae draws the listener in with a suspensful , cunning , story. This listen also has a story showing unless you have the full story of events your mind might come to the wrong conclusion. It also shows that everyone should look at events below the surface and trust love .
Loved this story and how things might be far into the future with beings that our furious might depend on .

Meghan Kelly did a fantastic read. Her voice was clear, strong and smooth. Loved how you can tell by her voice each character .
I highly recommend this audio !!

Interesting but I was hoping for more

I enjoyed this book

But I think it would have been better if the Senator’s point of view was in the book. with the book only from the females point of view makes it seem like it’s missing something.

This is a good short book to listen to at work

Good Sci-Fi Romance!

This was my first Avery Rae's book. I love her writing! This is the first book in the Korystus Aliens Series. This sci-fi romance is well written, well developed and interesting. The main characters, Senator Rylos and Marion, are great together and they share a strong chemistry. The sceneries on the Korystus planet are beautifully described. The story kept my attention from the first page to the end, and I love the HEA. I'd love to listen to the next book in the Series. Meghan Kelly has a soft voice, easy to listen. She's done a great job with all the characters. I love her male voice! I enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

My Two Pennies

Hearing Meghan Kelly narrate this story is what I feel made me keep going. I love the way this woman pulls the listener into the book and grab your attention with the voices of each individual character. Story wise 3.7 This was an interesting read, hearing the story of how Marion ended up on another planet and captured later to become the possession of Rylos kept things going. This is a determined woman that’s for sure and I could feel the passion she had for not only herself but those she was trying to help around her. Initially I wasn’t a fan of Rylos but as time went on and we see the layers peeling back he grows on me faster and harder. I enjoyed the story but not to the point where I’m itching to jump into the next book in the series. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Interesting sci-fi romance

I enjoyed this audiobook, though I think it could have used more of a backstory. The heroine is a human whose spaceship crashed on the Korystus planet. The survivors were taken captive by the inhabitants and are used as pets and sex partners, which the heroine resents. The hero is a Senator on this planet and he buys her as a pet. He’s torn emotionally between what he feels is right and what others in power feel the humans deserve. Above it all there is a powerful attraction between them. Narration was well done.

Slow-Burn SciFi Romance with High Stakes

Amanda Lyn here again from your favorite romance audiobook review source, Sounds Like Romance.

After crash-landing on an alien planet, Marion has spent months in captivity like an animal until she is adopted by Korystus Senator, Rylos. While trying to get the purple-hued male to understand that her people just want equal rights, she's forced to acknowledge the consequences of the crash that brought them together.

With a story that had just enough depth to keep the conflict steadily moving forward and a sensual heat level that built through the narrative, Meghan Kelley gives a solid performance that most scifi romance listeners will want to binge-listen. With subtle inflections and unique tones for each of the characters, Kelley delivers a well-rounded story that keeps you engaged and wanting to know what happens next.

While I could have done without the threat of sexual violence later on in the book (you've already had people enslaved and neglected and treated as objects, so relying on sexual violence to up the danger factor was not to my taste at all and might turn off other listeners, as well), I thought it was a fun story with a strong narrator to tell the tale. Solid start to a fun series that deftly weaves in political conflict to an otherwise fish-out-of-water feel that is integral to scifi romances.
