I lost him once. I won’t let him be taken from me again without a fight.

The voice on the other end of the line is one I’d given up all hope of ever hearing again…Devin.

As a boy, I loved him like a brother. As a man, my feelings are far from brotherly. Despite the years apart, everything in me aches to hold him, touch him, taste him. Is it possible he feels the same?

Right now, he’s hurting, and I swore I’d help. He needs me, but as I watch over him, I feel so helpless. Drugs have stolen so much of his life, and as they work their way out of his system, I vow never to let anyone or anything hurt him again.

If only that was a promise I could keep.

But Devin’s past comes back with a vengeance, and this time, I’m not going to sit back and wait. This time, I’ll do whatever it takes to get him back where he belongs.

In my arms and in my bed. Forever.

Get ready for a heart-wrenching ride with Seeking Sanctuary. It has a blend of captivating themes, including friends-to-lovers, hurt/comfort, and second chance romance. But be warned: explicit violence, drug abuse, and abduction are part of the story. Proceed with caution and check the foreword for a full list of triggers. Don't miss this unique and compelling storyline that will have you rooting for the characters!

Good story.

These two have history. Lots of it. They went their separate ways because they had different ideas of what they wanted in life. Then he got the phone call. His best friend called. Please I need help. Come get me. That started it all. Grumpy meets drug addict.

Emotional and Real!

The story of Chase and Devon is a tough one. They are both such super lovable guys but overcoming addiction is an uphill battle and it is something you have to learn to control. I enjoyed how for Devon, Chase's support helped, but it was not the end all be all. Devon had to want for himself to be better and move on. Michael Dean was a perfect narrator for this story since the subject matter was sensitive and emotional, He managed to balance this and also bring out the lighter side. He represented Chase and Devon so that I could really feel the underlying affection and familiarity these two had. This one keeps you listening because you feel the hope both Chase and Devon carry to overcome all the odds and stay together in a safe and happy love.

Emotional rollercoaster

I was really happy to read Devin and Chase’s story after reading Bennett and Adam’s story. This was a raw and emotional journey for both characters. Devin struggled with his addiction and past and all he needed was Chase to be his knight in shining armor. However Chase had his own issues. I won’t go into detail but this is a must listen. There are a few triggers so please read the warning before diving in.

Hurt/comfort at its finest

This is book 3 in the series, Men of Fairlake. I'm loving this series and I enjoy seeing the guys from the previous books make appearances. It's not necessary to have read the previous books, but it brings more enjoyment if you have.

I'm sure this one is a bit triggery for some; violence, drug abuse, etc. There are some really sad parts, some frustrating parts, some scary parts, and redemption parts. Good wins out in the end.

Overall I loved this story and Michael Dean's narration brought this story to life. I guess if you're triggered by these warnings it might be better to read the book instead of listening since he really does bring it to life.

The story held my interest from beginning to end and I highly recommend it, if you like this sort of book. Read the blurb for more information and trigger warnings.

Hurt/comfort, old friends to lovers, brings the heat, the emotions, the love.

Emotional Hurt/Comfort Story

This is another good story in this series. It pulled at my heart at points throughout but it was all worth it for the HEA. The great narration by Michael Dean helps to make the experience even better.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

An emotional story

Have I mentioned that I love the Men of Fairlake series? So I was really looking forward to this book and I was not disappointed. Romeo Alexander has once again written an emotinal and exciting story that had me hooked from the start. He has a wonderful writing style that allowed me as a listener to become immersed in the story very quickly.
Chase and Devin were best friends when Devin left town and the two didn't hear from each other for years. When Devin needs help on short notice, Chase is there, of course. And it's not easy, because Devin is a shadow of his former self due to drug abuse. I really liked both of these guys, they are likable, each in their own way and they take on the fight against drugs. This is tough and was portrayed realistically by the author and was not angsty either. And just like in real life, there were ups and downs.
What I also really liked was the strong emotional bond between the two. As a reader, you could feel the tension between them and it was super to watch Chase and Devin's relationship grow stronger and stronger. Towards the end, the author kicked it up a notch in terms of suspense. Wow. A very entertaining and enjoyable book.

Michael Dean is a fantastic narrator who did another great job here. He gave each character an individual voice that I as a listener could immediately relate to, and he does an incredible job of portraying the emotions of the protagonists, bringing the book to life. I'm really looking forward to the next volume!

Best Friends to Lovers

Chase has not seen or heard from his best friend, Devin in years until he receives a phone call from him asking for his help. He does not expect to find that his friend is currently a strung out junkie. Chase is determined to help him from his downward spiral.

What Chase does not expect is the man that he thought of like a brother has captured his heart. Devin admits he has always loved him but thought he was straight.

This is an emotional story, Chase is by Devin's side thru it all.

Chase and Devin

Book 3 of this series and it was my 2nd favorite. Bennett and Adam, as well as Isaiah and Julian make a reappearance and to me, that makes the story more interesting. I also liked how the timeline overlaps so some of the interaction is repeated, but from a different perspective. This story has HEA, but does include many mental and physical challenges for the characters, mainly Devin. My only disappointment is that there wasn’t more on page exploration of what happened with Devin’s father.
We also get a glimpse of Kyle from the upcoming book 5. The narration was excellent.

Saving Devin

Chase has had feelings for Devin for a long time which went from brotherly to something more. But Devin let his drug demons steal so much of his life away. Now he is ready to ask for help for his addiction and calls Chase whom he trusts. Without hesitation, Chase is there for him. Devin starts to clean up and get the drugs out of his system, but then his past comes back to destroy his efforts.

Cop friends Bennett and Jesse stopped by the garage to tease Chase about the betting pool Bennett started for how long it would take to get the vein on Chase’s head to stand out. As they chatted, a call came in that they all recognized. Mrs. Jensen, Chase’s neighbor, reported 3 men leaving Chase’s address and dragging Devin who was barefoot and appeared beaten up as they pushed him into a black Lexus. And Chase’s front door was broken. Chase had been out of the house for less than an hour when this happened. Bennett tried to reassure him they would get Devin back as they joined the pursuit. But as Chase spotted a black Lexus, he leaped into his vehicle to quickly follow as he called Bennett and told him where he had seen the car. As Chase got closer, the driver of the Lexus lost control, side-swiping Chase and ending up on the grass before hitting a tree. Head soaked with blood from being shot in the pursuit, Chase ran toward the crashed Lexus as Devin fought off his kidnapper. Chase dove into the fight as he recognized the kidnapper who just pulled out his gun and aimed at him! Will Chase survive what happens next? Or is it too late for Chase to keep his promise to fight for Devin and never give him up again?

The pain and struggle the author lets us feel in this story line is so real. This struggle with addiction is no easy task, and relapses are common. Was Chase’s love strong enough to make the difference this time? The narrator for the audiobook version is Michael Dean. He does a great job with the voices to personalize the story and make it easy for the listener to get an accurate impression of what each character is like. It helps to set the mood, familiarize the characters, and is a pleasant way to “read” and enjoy the book.
