Publisher's Summary

Quietly and steadily, the number of women making six figures or more is increasing and continues to rise at a rate faster than for men. From entrepreneurs to corporate executives, from white-collar professionals to freelancers and part-timers, women are forging careers with considerable financial success.

In Secrets of Six-Figure Women, Barbara Stanny, journalist, motivational speaker, and financial educator, identifies the seven key strategies of female high earners: Profit Motive, Audacity, Resilience, Encouragement, Self-Awareness, Non-Attachment, and Financial Know-How.

Based on extensive research and hundreds of interviews, including more than 150 women whose annual earnings range from $100,000 to $7 million, Stanny turns each of the six-figure traits into a specific strategy for upping earnings. By rigorously fine-tuning them, listeners can, step-by-step, climb the income ladder.

Good Listen

Any additional comments?

I am a six figure woman and I agree with what she talks about, both from the standpoint of a previous under earner and now a high earner.

Life Changing

What made the experience of listening to Secrets of Six-Figure Women the most enjoyable?

The book helped me look deep inside myself to discover the reasons why I am under earning. It helped to uncover experienceces as a child... that had a negative psychological impact on how I viewed money and what I thought I was capable of. Now that I know my debilitating issues, I can address them head on. Change starts from within, a mental shift is essential for any women to achieve her highest potential.

Only 3 star because of unnecessary god references

What did you like best about Secrets of Six-Figure Women? What did you like least?

I overall really enjoyed this book, to the point that I downloaded the kindle version to have access to some of the thought provoking questions. But the frequent religious references were so irritating. Here was a book about how women can tap into their own power and intentions without dependence on men. Well, except god. Yeah, I worked my ass off, I made sacrifices, I did it in spite of the internalized messages from parents or unsupportive men, but I got there because I prayed to a god?? Oh please. Delete these ridiculous and insulting passages and the book is wonderful and inspirational. Oh, and the frequent references to the "ghetto" made me cringe. Apparently, every time she refers to low income or minority populations, she describes them as coming from the "ghetto". Ugh! Stop it Barbara, I live in NYC, I'm in my late 50s and we haven't used the word "ghetto" since my grandfather's generation.

If you’ve listened to books by Barbara Stanny before, how does this one compare?

First one.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Narrator was okay.

Was Secrets of Six-Figure Women worth the listening time?

Overall yes. I don't think I'd listen or read any other books by her, but I did gain some insight from this one, and it did make me think about the ways I approach my career.

Any additional comments?

Summary: Overall thought provoking book. At times sounded dated but had some interesting data from her interviews.
I wish she would refrain from using the word "ghetto" every time she referred to low income populations but the MAIN REASON this only got 3 stars was because of the completely unnecessary religious references.

inspiring with one tiny hiccup

this book was recommended by a new friend who correctly sensed l was primed to receive the wisdom it shared. lots of great info, however, I wish this accomplished writer and/or her editors caught the Marianne Williamson quote they erroneously attributed to Nelson Mandela. that mistake did not significantly detract from the value I derived from the contents, it does lead me to question the accuracy of some of the facts presented.

A must read (or listen) for all women

Every woman should read (or listen to) this book. I will be listening more than once and have bought the hard copy so I can implement the strategies and have the material to refer back to. This book provides a lot of advice and wisdom from women who have reached six-figures and is also relatable to under earners who don’t want to be under earning anymore. This book has resonated with me and I wish all woman could get their hands on this book!
