What happened the last 28 minutes???

Really loved this audiobook, that is, until the very last chapter when the author got super preachy, and started talking about the power of God and forgiveness. WHY? It certainly did not add anything to the story. Up to the end, I was so into listening, and saw this story as a unique perspective on World War I. As for the telling of it, both performers did a phenomenal job of bringing their characters to life. Would probably recommend, but would also forewarn listeners about the author suddenly throwing in the religious aspect.

Best book in a long time.

This is the best book I have listened to in a very long time. I felt every emotion a person can, not just happy or sad but anger, frustration, rage, joy and love to name a few. A story told from another point of view, a story of how it really was in Germany at that time. I never write reviews, just rate them. But I had to write this one.

NO stars (if possible)

Another WWII story that could have taken place, but doubtful, however the most unbelievable part was when the author began to preach about forgiveness & Jesus Christ....really? This was not listed under 'religious fiction'....where it should have been!!
The narrator was awful. She 'tried' to speak German and failed. Her pronunciation of German words & names was atrocious and totally annoying to listen to. The narration sounded like a child learning to read. Don't these audio recording companies listen to the performers they employ? In this case, very doubtful!!!!!!!
Skip this one, folks!!!!

Highly recommend

Excellent story, I couldn't put down! The narrator gave a touching performance leading us on Hannah's journey to discover her past. A woman's quest to understand her recently departed mother. A trip to Germany reveals her family's part in WWII in Nazi Germany. Added this book to my favorite list and I can't wait to see what other novels Cathy has to offer.

Best book in a while!

I very much enjoyed this book. Kept me interested the entire way! Great writing. Taking us to know the feelings and experiences without the shock effect. Wasn't necessary at all yet the point came across. Great performance. Loved every minute of listening.

Great WW II story

Loved this book - WWII, politics versus family and the aftermath of the war. Excellent read and a surprise ending.

Great Book....loved the story

I love this book...I loved the back and forth in time. Usually I get upset when I switch like that because Im usually more intrigued by one story over the other but I was eagerly awaiting each angle and time period abd what was happening next.

I love how you really got the feel of what happened to many after the war.

This book is a bit religious if that's not your thing it is still such a wonderful story.

My duties at work and home were "placed on the back burner" while I finished this story. I would recommend it highly.

Amazing WWII Historical Fiction! Must Read

What was one of the most memorable moments of Secrets She Kept?

The whole telling of being in the concentration camps left me in awe and shock. I was teary eyed more than a few times. I also loved the angle of this book. Historical fiction, mainly WWII, is a favorite genre of mine. I have never read/listened to a book that focused on a daughter of a high ranking Nazi member. It was a different point of view that I was definitely entrenched by.

What does Morgan Hallett and Suzy Jackson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved Lieselotta's voice. The narration was perfect.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Stolen Lives

Any additional comments?

I do agree that it was very odd at the end how religious the book became, definitely should cut that out.
