Publisher's summary

In this hot, new, angsty romance from USA Today best-selling author BJ Harvey, the once-burned, forever-commitment-shy best friend from One Shot faces her own moral dilemma of the heart.

When life gives me lemons, I always make lemonade. Living every day like it could be my last, I'm content with the choices I've made and do so unapologetically. With a relationship that makes me happy and a job I love, life is good.

But when the man I've just agreed to marry has his estranged wife and four-year-old daughter turn up on his doorstep, I'm not the only one reevaluating things. He didn’t plan for that - and I didn’t plan for my childhood sweetheart to return, wanting me back.

Sometimes lemons can be sour, sometimes they can be sweet, and sometimes, all it takes is a second chance to make things right again. You just need to get that second chance in the first place.

Bruno captured my heart!

This is my second book by BJ Harvey and I couldn't wait for Gaby's story. I fell in love with her in One Shot as Kenzie's best friend. She is everything I would want in a best friend and more. Kind, funny, feisty and always there to lend an ear. But, under all of that Gaby's heart was broken. She is determined to never let anyone close enough to wreck her like her ex did. But in walks Bruno, all sweet and sexy with his sights locked on Gaby. What Gaby doesn't know is that Bruno has known heartbreak as well. Will Gaby let down her walls and give Bruno a shot at her heart or will the pain from her past derail their relationship before it even begins. Second Chance was a slow burn, emotional read about two people clearly destined to be together if they could simply let the other in to their heart completely. Jennifer Mack's narration is spot on as Gaby. if you are a fan of Lance Greenfield he narrates the epilogue.

LOVED IT HARD!

I love stories like these! Gaby is strong, sassy and loyal. Bruno is broody, alpha and protective. What started out as friendship and lust for one and chemistry for another developed into a great story that was unputdownable.

Such a sweet story

Aside from all the freaking heartbreak and heartache of their stories, it was actually VERY sweet. Great narration

umm ok

I only purchased the book because Lance Greenfield narrates. FYI. he only narrates the epilogue. bummer.
This is the first book by Harvey I've read. I really didn't care for the layout of the book. Meaning it starts in the middle and goes back to the beginning. But not the very beginning. They have already met so there is no meet cute. I really don't ever see any chemistry between the characters. Maybe if you have read the first one that would help.

second chances are so good

I love that the author drops a bomb in the beginning to hook you in then backtracks to the beginning. Second chance romance books are good but this one I really like. I wish the female would but up more of a fight when he came back to talk to her about what happened. But over all I was pleased with it.

Good start but....

This story had a good start. However, after thirty minutes of listening, I lost interest because the story started out on the present day then went back to the past and stayed there for over half of the story.. I kept waiting to hear what happened and when it did, i wanted to scream and tell myself what i waste of time. The writing was good but the way story was told, made me want to stop listening. The tone from the heroine was also dumb. The reason for the deceit was not believable enough. For someone whos been hurt, she didn't seem to learn from her mistake. This by far the dumbest heroine i've read/listen. The hero was another story. He was no better than her. All in all, I did not like the main characters or the story. I won’t recommend it but don’t let me stop you from listening.

Great book!

This was such a wonderful book! The words and actions of Bruno are every girls dream....of only men in the real world could listen to and resemble them. This is FOR SURE worth listening to/reading.

SPOILERS AHEAD NECESSARY FOR REVIEW.

Narration was good . Grammar was incorrect and distracting at times. The big issue was the how easily Gaby folded in the first discussion following his proposal while he never told her about his marriage. Lying by omission is still lying. Then she was ready to leave everything after a few months following their reconciliation to follow him to a new town. My trust would be diminished by the lying. I would definitely hang back and wait to develop more trust (and more backbone) before making major commitments to someone who hid a marriage from me. I learned this the hard way.

4.5 STARS

This is my first book narrated by Jennifer Mack and I have no complaints at all. She did a wonderful job performing as Gaby. Lance Greenfield only narrates the epilogue, but he is a pro and it was the sweetest thing to listen to him at the end of this audiobook.

I remember back when I read One Shot how Impressed I was with B.J. Harvey's writing. She made me understand the main characters despite them edging towards the morally questionable. I loved the side characters so much so I'm happy that I finally got to catch up.

Gaby was a sweet, sassy woman with relationship-phobia. It's usually the men who don't want to get settles but Gaby's heart was broken by her high school sweetheart two days before their marriage. She vowed back then to never open herself up to that kind of hurt anymore.

I suppose if anyone could break down these guards then it is Bruno. He is the quiet, a little brooding type who is insanely private. It's that character trait that eventually gets him in trouble - he too has a past and it's hard for him to share.

Gaby and Bruno are perfect for each other and there is no doubt that they belong together. At first Gaby's instinct is to run but Bruno's patience and determination, his good heart, the way he tears himself up for the woman he's fallen in love with pays off. Those are the reasons why Gaby can forgive Bruno's eff-up. I loved them so much together. They had an easy connection and their funny banter was the cherry on top.

I love how B.J. Harvey's writing makes you feel the angst yet with the interspersed humor it feels only half as heavy. There is some serious talent and I wish I had more time to read her books. I do have Drew's story waiting for me so I'll soon pick it up to get another dose of the Chances series!
