Publisher's Summary

Despite years on the run, Sophie Neumann is determined to care for two young children. She won't abandon them the way she thinks her older sisters abandoned her. But times are growing desperate, and when she falls in with the wrong crowd and witnesses a crime, she realizes fleeing 1850s New York is her only option.

Disappearing with her two young charges into a group of orphans heading west by train, Sophie hopes to find safety and a happy life. When the train stops in Illinois for the first placement of orphans, Sophie faces the most difficult choice of her life.

Reinhold Weiss has finally purchased his own small farm. With mounting debts, a harvest to bring in, and past scars that haunt him, he's in no position to give his heart away...but can he say no when his long-lost friend shows up on a nearby train pleading for his help?

Love the story

I love the story, however the narrator is very sing song and nasal. It’s the only thing I didn’t like about everything. Great writing.

Annoying narration

Story was okay, and held my interest, but the narrator irritated me with her emphasis on the wrong words. I don’t understand why someone would read that way.

Disappoiting

This 3rd book in the trilogy had a great plot and wonderful characters, but the story was written in a way I found disappointing. There was a lot of filler in the areas of rehearsing the insecurities and uncertainties of the main characters over and over. I get really weary of insecure characters when that aspect dominates the story. The other dominating aspect was an overabundance of tantalizing detail and building sexual tension. I wanted to hear more about their story, but it just kept going back to insecurity and descriptions designed to inspire lust. As a Christian author, I think she crossed the line with too much physical detail. There were so many aspects to the story which could have been further developed rather than filling it in with these things. It detracted from the story itself. I thought the long-awaited event near the end was disjointed and took an odd, dissatisfying turn.

Wow!

Just finished this book and loved every minute of it! What a beautiful story! I loved the characters and the plot, and the reminder that our Heavenly Father loves us no matter what and heal any broken life.

Ouch narrator

The narrator ruined the book for me. I couldn’t get past the sing songy narration. What a shame. I am hoping to return this book because I couldn’t listen any longer past chapter 3. I wonder how Jody let this happen to her book. Oh well maybe I’ll listen to narrator before purchasing next time.

Good story, but it seemed to drag on a bit.

I did increase the playback speed and that helped speed it along, but there just seemed to be a lot of unnecessary detail.

The three books are excellent.

I just finished the third book in the series. They draw you in and are impossible to stop listening to. I hope there are more.

Loved It

Searching for You is the third book in the Orphan Train Series. While it helps to have read the first two, it is not necessary. Sophie finds herself running again and trying to take care of herself and two children that she thinks of as her own. She joins a train going west and finds her plans changed as she travels away from the city and the life she has there. I was glad to find out more of what has happens with the characters in the book and seeing how they have to work at what is best for what everyone and not just for what they want.
