Crazy. Dangerous. Monster.

Shane Trevisano knows what the town of Steam Valley, California thinks of him, and he's happy being their bogeyman in the woods. After suffering horrific burns that left him disfigured, all the former SEAL wants is to be left alone in his remote cabin with his demons. But the outside world keeps encroaching, and when a woman shows up on his doorstep with two bullet holes, Shane's already tenuous hold on sanity starts to slip.

In a town full of secrets, he's the one they blame.

Alexis Summers wakes up in a strange cabin, held captive by a man who both terrifies and intrigues her, with only a vague memory of the killer who tried to end her life. As they navigate the dangerous dance between captor and captive, she realizes there's more to Shane than meets the eye. Beneath the scars and gruff exterior, there's a man in pain, a man who desperately needs help.

But redemption comes with a price.

The townspeople are convinced Shane is the notorious serial killer known as the Shadow Stalker, and they're out for blood. Alexis refuses to believe he's capable of the horrors she's endured, but her instincts have steered her wrong in the past. Can she prove his innocence before the town enacts some backwoods justice? Or is she blinded by her growing attraction to the damaged, bad-tempered man?

If you want a sexy Beauty and the Beast retelling with a modern romantic suspense twist, you won't want to miss Searching for Redemption, the thrilling fourth installment of the Redwood Coast Rescue series by Tonya Burrows!

Scars and Stars

Tonya Burrows has a amazing way of writing damaged characters with heart. This series is so good! I love how each book is a standalone with intertwined characters that only add to the enjoyment. Another aspect of the story that I loved was I didn’t figure out who the killer was. Stephen Borne is fantastic at bringing the characters to life with his voice. I could feel the emotions and envision so many details. I loved the book.

Another great story!💜

This might be my favorite so far in this series. I loved the little nuggets of reminders plucked down here and there to remind the readers of previous stories. Honestly, I hadn’t remembered until I was reminded. I love when stories are blended together, even a few books later.
This story was emotional and heartbreaking but also, heartwarming too.
The narration was fantastic. Stephen Borne’s voice is perfectly suited for this story as well as the entire series. Well done!
This is book 4 with an HEA and can be read as a standalone! I highly recommend this book/series!

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Intense!

Tonya Burrows pens another fantastic romantic suspense novel set in her “Redwood Coast Rescue” series and puts her own unique spin on the “Beauty and the Beast” fairytale. This fourth book features Shane Trevisano, a wounded warrior who battles his own inner demons and opts to live his life in a remote cabin on Mt. Humboldt. He prefers nature over people and only goes to town when necessary, especially since he knows the people of Steam Valley think he is a monster. The winter has not been kind, and he is in dire need of supplies, but kept putting off going to town, but the appearance of a dog needing help decides for him, so he heads to town to drop the dog off at Redwood Coast Rescue before picking up some supplies. My heart went out to him, for most people a trip to the store is simple, but for him it is a struggle, and they are not very kind to him there. Alexis Summers was in town investigating the legendary shadow stalker, and she told the sheriff that there was a serial killer on the loose, but he did not take her seriously. When Alexis is abducted and taken to a bunker in the mountain, she knows the shadow stalker is real and that she is his next victim, but she is determined to survive. Escaping and finding refuge in a cabin buys her time, but then he comes and she is convinced her days are numbered. Wow, what a story, one that grabbed my attention immediately and captivated it the whole time. There is never a dull moment, and the story has plenty of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn romance. As always, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Tonya Burrows, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧   Stephen Borne delivers another amazing performance, bringing these characters to life, humanizing them, giving each a voice that is fitting and believable. He nailed it as Shane, grasping every aspect of his personality, from his episodes with PTSD to his strength and determination. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures all the characters’ emotions and has you feeling each one. Borne is an entertaining storyteller and his performance elevates this already fantastic story to another level. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

Surprising Twists

This story held my attention from beginning to end. The MMC, Shane, is damaged physically and emotionally during his time as a Navy Seal. He feels solitude is best for his healing. Surprise, Surprise it’s not. Lol. The building of Shane’s emotions of what he endured and how he overcomes this is well written. The MFC, Alexis, comes across Shane at a traumatic time for her. I wish her therapy was addressed a bit more. Overall, I enjoyed seeing how the story unfolded and will listen to book 5.

Twist after twist

Tonya really knows how to keep u on the edge of your seat lol. So many turns and jaw drops in this book. I love that the romance in this book is about a guy who thinks he doesn’t deserve to live because of things that were out of his control and the way he looks due to past injuries. Tonya had beautiful writing in this part showing anybody is able to be loved broken or not. The ending of this book had me yelling Noooooo so I so can’t wait for the next to come out. Stephen performed this book so well doing all the different male and female characters so much justice. He really has some awesome talent

Captivating!

Captivating with action, tons of danger, mysteries to solve, pulse-pounding suspense, and no shortage of twists and turns. Shane and Alexis seemed written in the stars...how else to explain how everything lined up for them to fall for each other? Shane was such a heartbreaking character and my heart hurt for him, and I applauded Alexis for seeing beneath the damaged cover to the beautiful man underneath, even while going through unthinkable trauma of her own! The journey wasn't smooth sailing, but these two belonged together and they found their path. And of course the dogs and all the other characters from previous books played integral parts in this HEA. I can't wait to listen to the next book! And the narrators did an amazing job!

Contemporary Mystery Thriller

This was my first experience with Tonya Burrows' work, and it was exciting. Alexis Summers was running from the man who had kidnapped her. She stumbled into Shane Trevisano's cabin. There were some similarities to the fairytale of "Beauty and the Beast", but the setting and causation were more modern. I liked the characters of Alexis and Shane. I enjoyed their romance. The kidnapper was a sinister character who added a feeling of unease throughout the story. There were some steamy scenes. Stephen Borne's narration was fine, and his performance kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review which included my opinions.

Enjoyable!

While I ended up enjoying this immensely the beginning was a bit rough. There is the whole set up to get the reader into Shane’s headspace which was great. I struggled when Lexi came on scene and she swears she is captured by stalker and he really does nothing to tell her he isnt that guy. In fact he almost perpetuated he was so see those scenes were a rough go. Anyway after that everything was wonderfully done. I enjoyed watching Shane become a better version of himself with the help of his new friends.

Overall this is a great listen. I love this series and that hook at the end makes me ready for the next. Stephen Borne is the wonderful narrator in here. He does such a good job on all the voices and is pleasant to listen to.

Finished before I quit listening!

Shane and Alexis! I finished this audio today and I need the next one! I knew Shane’s story was going to be one riddled with trauma but I didn’t see this coming! Alexis the podcaster that was chasing a serial killer ends up missing and what happens next will have you hanging on every word! I couldn’t get enough of these two and what was going on in this small town. I have to tell you that it’s got twist and turns and while you get answers at the end of this story you’re going to want to next book because there is so much more to explore. This series has been one that is captivating and I get excited every time I see the new audio release!

The Monster on the Mountain

Shane gets his book!! He's first introduced in the first book in the series, both helping the main characters out and asking them to get off his mountain and leave him alone. He was social distancing before it was mainstream. He's had a rough life from his discharge from the military, and has lived up on the mountain for about a decade. I loved his connection with Alexis and how it wasn't perfect from the get-go, and both their issues caused some problems. He had good character growth in the story and I liked how it wasn't linear, and there were some ups and downs.

Alexis was a well written character, but I had some trouble connecting with her at times. Her tenacity and strength show through in almost every scene she's in, even after such terrible events happen to her. I liked her quest for information and wanting to learn everything. She demonstrates soooo much courage and drive to find the Shadow Stalker and prevent other victims from being hurt. I did think some of her actions were questionable because she helps run a true crime podcast, so it seemed weird why she'd draw certain conclusions or do certain things. It just seemed incongruous to her personality, and confused me a little.

I really liked the suspense and mystery in this one. Each story in this series has overarching similarities, but all are still unique and I think this one can be in its own category because Shane and Alexis have their own separate traumas that play so well together. I liked the feeling that the mystery was coming to a conclusion, but the author was still able to throw some twists and turns in. And honestly, there were some pretty good ones that make me fear for a few people in Steam Valley.

This is the fourth book in the series and can be enjoyed as a standalone. I do recommend reading/listening to the previous three to get a better sense of the characters (and the dogs!!!!!!) and because they are all great stories (and have great dogs in them!). The characters (and dogs) from the previous ones make appearances in this story.
This story contains subject matter that isn't light. There's SA (past tense, non-detailed), assault, inciting a riot, PTSD - related issues, violence, and murder (not on page). There are some fun things, too, like swearing, steam, and dogs!!

The narrator does a wonderful job again! I love listening to him bring the author's character's to life! He does such a good job differentiating all the characters' voices. I listened at 1.2x speed.
