Publisher's summary

He’s a grumpy lawman, who lives by the book.

Sheriff Ash Rawlings values order and structure above all else. He doesn’t have time for distractions, especially not now, since his new K9 partner, Dante, has a nose for trouble. But when the vivacious and rebellious Rose Galasso bursts back into his life, challenging his every move, he finds himself both irritated and captivated. She’s wild, unpredictable, and dangerously attractive.

She’s a free spirit, who doesn’t play by the rules.

The last person Rose wants to be tangled up with is the uptight sheriff who ruined her life, and their intense dislike for each other is evident to anyone within earshot. But when a wildfire uncovers a woman’s body, they’re drawn together by the cold case that has haunted them both for years. And when Rose’s ties to the victim put her in a killer's crosshairs, Ash and Dante have their work cut out for them to keep her safe.

They're enemies with a common goal: justice.

As the threat escalates, Ash and Rose must face their turbulent history if they want to survive. But can they learn to trust the enemy before it’s too late?

Twisty Turny Goodness!

So excited for this one!!! I could not wait to get this in my ears! Ash and Rose are electric together! I loved watching them grow together and become more mature. This has a TON of action and suspense as we travel with these two on their thrilling adventure. I enjoyed seeing the previous characters and how they are involved. The epilogue just makes me salivate for the next in the series!

I did listen to this on audio. Stephen Borne does a wonderful job as narrator. He does great voices for all these different types of people. Next Please!

Great Story & Narration🎧Thrilling & Captivating!

It is great to be back in Tonya Burrows’ “Redwood Coast Rescue” world again for another amazing romantic suspense. I am loving this series and the amazing world Burrows created, it has become one of my favorite places to visit and spend time in. This third book is Sheriff Ash Rawlings and Ambrosia “Rose” Galasso’s story, and wow, what a story it is. Ash is all about law and order, and is busy taking over for the former sheriff, who was lazy and corrupt. Rose owns and runs a pub in town and is not a fan of the uptight sheriff and she does not hide her dislike for him. The two have history that goes back to when he first joined the sheriff’s office and it is not a good history. There is a lot going on in this small town and there is a podcaster who is certain there is a serial killer on the loose. Rose’s aunt is questioning whether the body that was found is that of Rose’s mother, but the sheriff is certain they have the murderer and does not want to open that case again. But how certain is he and what if that body was Rose’s mom and she was a victim of the supposed serial killer? Lots of unanswered questions, and then someone kidnaps Rose, drugged her up, but the sheriff finds her in time. He goes into a protective mode with Rose, which puts them in close proximity with each other, and it does not go off too well at first, but the two realize that there is a great chemistry between them. Was all that angst and fighting just foreplay for what was to become of them and their relationship? I loved how everything played out in this book, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. This enemies-to-lovers romantic suspense is captivating from start to end. It has the perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, emotional moments, and steamy romance. Tonya Burrows, thank you for another amazing story and wild ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fantastic narration, Tonya Burrows cast the perfect narrator to bring her characters and story to life. Stephen Borne covers the roles of both the male and female characters, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. His character voices have been consistent throughout the series and the quality of the audio is top-notch. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and has you feeling every single one. Stephen Bourne is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

Undeniable

Ash Rawlings is someone I needed to know about. I needed to know what his story was because she was always so serious and gruff in the other books in the series. I have a book boyfriend type and Ash could be written for it. Rose is sassy, strong and independent pub owner who has a strong reaction to Ash. This audiobook will take you from present day back to past events and you'll completely understand the complex relationship between these two tortured souls and how connected they really are from past to present. I have to say there were lots of twists, turns and unexpected reveals. I can't recommend it enough and can't wait to see what happens next.

Enemies with strong attraction.

Not my favorite characters. But a very interesting plot. He's a grumpy cop and flawed. She's bold, sassy and hurt. They are enemies. He put her father in jail many years ago. Now he's trying to protect her. Someone's out to kill her.
I was gifted the Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. The narrator was great. 4 stars for him, too.

Action Packed Enemies to Lovers!!

Another steamy, thrilling tale from Tonya Burrows!
This time Ash and Rose get their hard fought romance in the books. They have a contentious relationship because, years ago when Ash was a deputy, he and the then sheriff arrested her father for the murder of her mother. Yeah, that caused some issues.

Ash and Rose are both complex characters with lots of baggage to overcome. Ash is feeling burdened by his job as the sheriff of a county that's been on fire, skeleton(s) found, and cleaning up the sheriff's office from previous corruption. He has his work cut out for him and Alexis Summers (true crime podcaster) mentions the possibility of a serial killer hiding in the woods. So, he's got a lot of things to worry about and Rose makes sure nothing is easy for him.
Ash and Rose are fun together. Rose gets Ash to, on occasion, look at the bigger picture and, sometimes, that doesn't involve work. Rose has had a tough life, but doesn't let that stop her from running a successful business and being a good person to listen to your problems. They are perfect for each other, if only they open up to the idea.
There's tons of action and adventure, and twists and turns. The story is highly entertaining with great characters, and plenty of dogs included! I liked the inclusion of Redwood Coast Rescue and all of the doggies. It was another entertaining story and I'm looking forward to the next one!

The story contains swearing, steamy scenes (slow burn hate sex!), scenes involving an abduction, violence, and drug use.
While the story can be read by itself, I recommend reading/listening to the previous ones prior to fully understand the background of the story.

I liked the narrator! He always does a good job with all the voices, and differentiating between each voice in the scene for the listener to follow along. He voices the male and female characters well, really giving the characters life and making them relatable. I listened at 1.15x speed.

Love this series

Another good book by Tonya, love how her characters go from hating each to loving each other. Lots of action, with a hot sexy sheriff and a strong woman and of course the animals.

Stand alone story but better in series

Searching for Justice could technically be read as a stand alone story, but I liked it better reading it as part of the series because it builds off of characters and events in previous books. The ending also leads into the next book in the series.

Stephen Bourne did a great job as the narrator. He was easy to listen to (at a midwest faster speed) and he added emotion where appropriate.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request and the opinions here are my own.

This story thoroughly intrigued me

This story thoroughly intrigued me. An enemies to lovers but I knew quickly the reason for the enemies would not be a typical scenario and would bring a lot more to the story. And sure enough, as the flashbacks to young versions of Ash and Rose revealed those reasons, it opened up a whole other avenue for shocking twists and turns. And as the danger and angst and chemistry rises as Ash appoints himself Rose's protector, my mind whirled trying to predict who were the bad guys... and the tangled web Tonya created could not be completely predicted. Wowzer! Convulated bad guys. Ash and Rose have been a simmering fire ready to combust but fighting it hard given their perceived need to hate each other, and when that tension ignited a hidden side of Ash comes out (so depending on your heat level/kink levels consider this a proceed with caution). I've wanted to know what made Ash tick since book 1, and this book didn't disappoint and I enjoyed how all the characters support each other...plus animals make it all better! Great narration as the story took me on a journey to another HEA...and ended with the set up for the next book.

Engaging story

You can never go wrong with a story by this author, and this one proved the point.
Ash Rawlings ,the local sheriff, is a by the book man. Meanwhile, Rose Galasso, is anything but. As much as she irritates him, she also fascinates and confuses him.
But what happens when a body is discovered? A body directly related to a cold case?
Now that that discovery puts Rose in danger, Ash will everything to keep her safe.
Will he succeed? If he does, will they realize they are destined to be together?
The story was engaging with likable characters. What I enjoyed most is a reminder of the struggles many troops experience once they return to civilian life. As a society and a nation, more needs to be done for them.
The narrator, Stephen Borne brought the story to life.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by StoryOrigin.
