"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends." (John 15:13)

Just days before Chad Williams was scheduled to report for basic training at the Great Lakes naval base, he turned on the television and was greeted with the horrifying image of his mentor and training partner, US Navy SEAL Scott Helvenston, being brutally murdered in a premeditated ambush on the streets of Fallujah, Iraq. Steeled in his resolve, Chad committed himself to completing the US military’s most difficult training to become a Navy SEAL - and avenge his friend’s death.

One of only 13 out of a class of 173 to make it straight through to graduation, Chad went on to serve on SEAL Teams 1 and 7, completing tours of duty in the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and finally Iraq. There, Chad’s journey came full circle when his team was ambushed by enemy machine gunners - close to the same road where his hero had been killed five years earlier.

SEAL of God follows Chad’s extraordinary journey through 25 grueling weeks of BUD/S training and onto the hostile streets of Al Anbar Province, Iraq, where he witnessed the horrors of war up close. Along the way, Chad shares his own radical conversion story and discovers the true meaning of ultimate sacrifice.

Riveting narration, and inspiring story! Chad gives us an example of how the negative aspects of a strong will can be changed to a positive (hanging on through tough SEAL training) and then mellowed when submitted under God. Thanks for sharing your life story so honestly, Chad! God bless you!

I loved this book and the fact thatbis was read by Chad, himself. It was wonderful to read how God's grace has changed his life , as well as appreciative of Chad's service on ALL accounts. i highly recommend this audio book!

Great story full of surprises and plenty of heart. Glad we have guys like this in the spec ops. The reading could’ve been better with most of the book read in the same tone but overall well done.

Solid

I enjoyed this book. As a Christian Man I found the story of Chad's desire to become a Seal and struggles he had before, during and after SEAL training to be quite interesting. I also could relate to the thrill of new faith and how transforming and clumsy that can be. I think my only critique might be how military service and even War balance out the faith walk of a Christian. I feel like maybe the dignity of a human pursuit such as becoming a SEAL may have somehow been minimized due to the conversion experience that Chad describes. It just felt a bit overzealous. I think it may depend more on where the reader is in their own faith walk and self mastery or self discovery of Body, Mind And Spirit. Over all an enjoyable book.

A different take on conversion

What a great book. Highly, highly recommend this to anyone. Especially a younger person struggling with the pressures adulthood, finding your way as a new Christian or if you're not a believer. You will be and this great book will be a motivator!
