The sting of the Scorpion

If you could sum up Scorpion: Saxon Lords of Hage - De Wolfe Pack in three words, what would they be?

Intrigue and politics

What was one of the most memorable moments of Scorpion: Saxon Lords of Hage - De Wolfe Pack?

In the Serpent I loved Kevin Hage and felt so sorry for him when he lost his unrequited love, Penelope de Wolfe to the Serpent. I was so excited to read his story and I was not disappointed. Kathryn Le Veque delivered a roller coaster ride with its amazing story. The story picks up 6 years after the Serpent in the foreign land where Kevin Hage has earned quit the reputation as lethal and deadly assassin which earned the nickname “Scorpion”. Kevin decides to return home to England with his comrades, Thomas de Wolfe and Addonis de Norville. On his way home he’s asked to presents himself before Edward, King of England. The King is fascinated with the Scorpion’s reputation as skilled assassin in a foreign land. King Edward has plans for Kevin and places him in the service of the Duke and Duchess of Dorset. Our heroine is the Duchess Annavieve who has spent her entire life in a convent because she is a descendent her father was of Welsh royal blood and her mother was from the great Marshal family. Through all the intrigue and politics with so many unforeseen twist and turns in this book. The romance starts off rocky for both of them, the quite girl from the convent and the warrior who has vowed to never give his heart again to another woman. Kevin Hage is a magnificent hero who deserved to find his happily ever after with the lovely Annavieve de Ferrers. I thoroughly enjoyed the amazing ride this story took me on. A great read I know you will truly enjoy!!!

Medieval Love Story Hits the Spot

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Mr. Wills narration with its rich tones and different voices for each character. The story is passionate but not over the top. The villain is bad. Family and friends loyalty and love direct the action. Ie it does not feel contrived. The HEA is better than expected.

Disappointed even tho KLeQ is a favorite of mine.

I felt the narrator did an adequate job. Unfortunately, he had a very nasal voice which resulted in the mispronunciation of several words. In addition, his vocalization of Kevin, the male lead, made me shudder. He did a beautiful rendition of the songs in the tale however.

Kathryn Le Veque is one of my favorite authors. She is an excellent writer who produces good development of the characters which makes it easy to become invested in the story. She writes with accuracy for the time period and is prolific. I rarely find anything objectionable in her publications. However, in this novel I was not comfortable with the portrayal of the villains who were both gay. I felt they were very stereotyped with Roger being depicted as a weak, effeminate character and Victor as a vicious misogynist. I am not trying to be PC as I am a 62 year old married woman and really couldn't care less about other people's opinions at this point in my life. But my best friend in high school and college was a non sterotypic gay guy (in the 70's when it was far less accepted) and I have continued to have LBGT friends throughout life. I find them to be of course simply human with good and less good aspects like everyone else. In fact, I feel that they are less judgemental and more accepting of others overall probably because of the prejudice they have had to face. When I was young, I received better, more respectful treatment in gay bars than straight ones. I could just dance without having to worry about strange men manhandling or propositioning me against my will. Therefore, I was disappointed in the author's choice to make the villain's sexuality a causative factor in their evil. I like to think she didn't mean for it to sound that way but that is the way it reads to me.

This series just stays GREAT!

Book after book, this series started out great and stays that way. Easy to see why it’s a bestseller. Great adventures and romance, with a few steamy scenes that add to the tale, not replace it. Very well done.

Great story

Loved every minute listening to Scorpion, well written by Kathryn and it will go into my ‘favourite’ collection. I have many more both kindle books and audible books of Kathryns, so I am never at a loss what to read or listen.
