Publisher's Summary

Rigid adherence to scientism - as opposed to a healthy respect for science - is all too prevalent in our world today. Rather than leading to a deeper understanding of our universe, this worldview actually undermines real science and marginalizes morality and religion.

In this book, celebrated philosopher J. P. Moreland exposes the self-defeating nature of scientism and equips us to recognize scientism's harmful presence in different aspects of culture, emboldening our witness to biblical Christianity and arming us with strategies for the integration of faith and science - the only feasible path to genuine knowledge.

Need to take notes...

Took a while to wade through on walks and in the evenings. Starting my second listen. Good deal of depth and scope. Moderate pace. No issues with content. Narration good. Need to study attached PDF.

solid

solid content but a bit disorganized. criticisms are valid, and the material is analized with accuracy. much of it is not new to me, so disorganization didn't bother me that much. i wish he would just present some more actual examples of scientism leading to false conclusions. in terms of a pedagogical help. some people may have difficulty grasping concepts without examples. he did some, but could have added more

Technical but informative

I found this title to be very informative. However, it was quite technical at times regarding philosophical and scientific terms. I say this as a good thing. It will push you to think but not in an overwhelming way.

good read

jp moreland is a brilliant mind! it is astonishing how evil the secular world is and how important "careful thought" about competing worlds views is. jp once again disarms the atheist. thanks!

A Book You Must Listen To

While I disagree with the author's conclusions about a six day creation, I still consider his book necessary. l will purchase this audible in a hard copy. I suggest every do the same. His book should be required for the body of Christ.

Important for everyone

This concept of scientism is everywhere and truth requires that it be brought to light and discussed and understood. This book does a great job of doing this.

Great!

Loved this book. laid out very simply, with easy to follow illustrations and examples. Really helped to clarify the issues of today that are so prevalent and damaging to truth and reality. Science has long overstepped it's authority, and this book exposes that bullying of Scientism as the self-defeating ideology it really is.

Enlightening

I feel better equipped to defend my beliefs against the scrutiny of scientism. I will read again and recommend to my peers.

Comprehensive thoughts on scientism

Good thoughts on the different varieties of scientism and the weaknesses with them. The book doesn't really cover the topic of secularism and as such I don't think it needs to be apart of the title.
