Publisher's Summary

There's nowhere left to hide.

The battle for the gap

In the north, the collapsed section of the Wall is defended only by the decimated remains of 2 PARA. Even reinforced by Jameson and the exhausted Royal Marines of One Troop, it's a doomed delaying action at best - and the last choke point in the entire ZA faces an incoming tide of dead stretching to the ends of the Earth....

The race for the cure

Finally united, Dr. Park and Aliyev the Kazakh, supported by Pred and Juice on a mission out into a London falling into chaos, struggle to perfect the vaccine that will preserve the dwindling flame of humanity - and to weaponize the designer pathogen that might just destroy the rampaging armies of the dead....

The defense of the Alamo

Hunkered down at CentCom, the unified ranks of our heroes, led by Ali and Fick, work furiously to fortify and reinforce what will be humanity's final fallback position - forever. But it may be over before it begins, as a runner invasion from the south hits even before the great wave of death coming in from the north....

great series, but...

This literally needed to be the last book. but once again, its a total filler book. this series rocks, i love the chracters. but if you made it this far in the series you can basically predict, if it isnt a main character in the cockpit, you can expect an crash or/and outbreak. the foreshadow is pretty predictable as well. the progress of major events is cool and interesting, but just drawn out, and i am not thrilled at where it was left at the end. thankfully the author has stated the next one IS the final.

Frick & Pred

I so look forward to each new book in this series and am always concerned that the next will be the last. The dialogue of the Operators, particularly Frick and Pred, have me bursting out laughing as I walk around my Fortune 50 job listening to the book. So many great lines for the ages. Never thought I'd say this but I hope the Zombie A continues on strong so that we can have another 13 books!

HOLY @$#%StORM!

This series, this writing, this narrator... continue to blow my mind. At this point I’ve come to expect that each and every book is packed to the teeth with epic awesomeness and non stop heart pounding action. The siege is no disappointment either, delivering thrills, chills and zombie kills.

Warning: put up plastic wrap behind you before reading, it’ll save in clean-up after your mind is blown.

Michael, Glynn and R.C... keep killin it brothers. Favorite series and performance, thank you!!

A let down

Okay, I was giving it a good try all the way until, Predator and Juice were willing to let the team fail and the world end just because they wanted to save someone who was already dead. The other issue is that Sarah would endanger the team lead (Handon), by having the doctor wake him up, he should’ve died because of how weak he is, Henno is the one that should’ve survived. Seriously, the doctor already warned her, but whatever we will do whatever we want. I don't get the fact that these people are willing to let the world end, rather than letting a few people die, who were already dead to save the living, Henno and Captain Ainsley had is right, the mission first, because the dead doesn’t care and they won’t stop. Thank god these people and their selfish actions are only in a book, or the Lone Survivor would be no survivor and Chris Kyle, who had to shoot women and kid’s terrorist willing to kill American wouldn't have saved anyone. A quote from Kyle who had to shoot a woman with a child stated, “The woman was already dead. I was just making sure she didn't take any Marines with her. It was clear that not only did she want to kill them, but she didn’t care about anybody else nearby who would have been blown up by the grenade or killed in the firefight. Children on the street, people in the houses, maybe her child.” This book says teamwork is everything, but over and over your characters let teammate and friends die because they don’t want to kill people who clearly are willing to kill them. A bunch of nonsense, is what it is.
So we are very clear I bought this series because of RC Bray that's it and my rating reflects just that with these characters that constantly don't seem to know what they want at this level of training and skill and at every turn are walking contradictions.

People are unrealistically incompetent

The author is really cranking up the artificial tension by having literally everyone be completely incompetent. This is incredibly frustrating as the reader. A non-exhaustive list of the ridiculous actions taken by the characters: (spoilers)

- Gate guard freezes up and allows people to unlock the gate he's guarding, and freezes up again rather than closing the gate, allowing zombies into the last bastion of humanity.
- Woman decides to use her gun as a club (against zombies!) rather than shooting it and alerting the base to the zombie invasion.
- Scientist yells "WE CAN'T JUST LEAVE HIM OUT THERE" and opens a locked door protecting dozens of unarmed scientists and critical samples in order to save one guy. What is this, day 1 of the ZA?
- Guy doesn't carry his gun on him even though there's a standing order to do so and he's in the middle of the zombie apocalypse.
- Woman with gun has only practiced with it twice in her life and can't find the safety, despite living through 2 years of zombie apocalypse.
- Officer countermands operator's order to seal a gate because it would be "inconvenient." Zombies swarm through.

This goes on and on and on. I was tearing my hair out listening to this installment.

Do not buy this book, not for the reason you think.

1st this book is a great story, I’m hooked.
Narrator is spot on, as he is in most every performance.

The issue is audible has pulled the rest of the series. You get hooked and can’t continue the story. So wait until it’s back “if” it comes back.

A Veritable Battering of the Eardrums

This one's the audiobook equivalent of standing next to the speaker stacks at a 70s Hawkwind concert. A veritable and quite visceral battering of the ear drums as once again Michael Stephen Fuchs puts his now much-loved badass characters through battles, missions and highly improbable rescues at a quite indecent pace. The action almost never lets up and when you want a narrator to deliver a sense of urgency and high octane action RC Bray is THE first name on the list. Bray and Fuchs seem perfectly matched and must be one the best Audiobook combinations around. It's like they were ordained by a higher power to come together!

So, what are you waiting for? Spend the credit, text your boss to say you will be off for a day or two, sit back and let your headphones spray bullets, blood and gore between your ears!

Unless of course you are new to the Arisen series. In that case, stop, find the Omnibus edition of the first three books,. text your boss to say that you resign and let your headphones do the rest.

I know this type of fiction isn't everyone's cup of tea but for those of us that like it this series is an absolute doozy!

Bloody Fantastic!

Praise the Lord! I have been waiting for several months for this audiobook episode to be finally released! When I saw it saw it available for download in my audible account it was like Xmas :) Initially not the easiest series to get into....but then absolutely addictive....I guess anyone who has got this far knows that already. The highest complementary I can give to the author is when you are listening and think 'get a grip! it's just a story'. Well done Michael Stephen Fuchs!!!!

60% going over what has been gone over b4

yes we get it, people have demons, and we know what these charictars are because they have been written abour over and over again. but seriously how is it that the plot ONLY EVER ADVANCED THROUGH THE MISTAKES OR TRAINED PROFESSIONALS its the same plot advancement thats been hapening since book one.

Awesome

I’m in love with this series, I have managed to travel a part of the world while following the characters in this book. Ok the world looks a little different and is a lot more dangerous. It is very well described the world and the situations. Well written and of course anyone who has ever heard R.C Bray knows he always brings the book to life! I have to say most of the books I enjoy the most are Narrated by the master! Looking forward to the next one.

Another great book and performance

What made the experience of listening to The Siege the most enjoyable?

Have listened to the entire series. Not all of the same standard but all above the rest by some margin. As with all, the narration is wonderful.

Finish This

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It would be the last in the series, other than that it's all good and still very enjoyable

What did you like best about this story?

I really enjoy the relationship between Pred & Juice they're always pulling each other along and have some funny banter, and the return of Homer was welcome

What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

What can you say about RC Bray other than he's one of the best narrators out there and especially for a book like this, it's not narration it's a performance

If this book were a film would you go see it?

TV Series is the only way this would get on to a screen I think the movie going public would not have the patience for 13 films and counting, saying that I think it would be a brilliant TV series if done properly and something I would definitely watch

Any additional comments?

Book 13 and for the first time I feel as if I'm being milked I really think this should have been finished in this book, definitely feels as if it's being spun out longer than necessary, what you might call a "Commercial Decision"

Spread too thin

Any additional comments?

The continuation of the plot is good in this book, the story is really starting to come to an end. But I cant help but feel the plot is spread too thinly, there are so many different sub plots coming together and constant flickering between characters that it just feels watered down. There wasn't much from Alpha in this book either, it was almost more focused on other background characters.

There wasn't any stand out moments for me, no noteworthy feats from the Alpha guys either. I think this book would have benefitted greatly from a strong action scene involving alpha and a more concise focus on certain characters.
