Publisher's summary

For my entire life, my weight and looks have been a hot topic of conversation with my family. I’ve never felt perfect, never felt like I was enough or even worthy of love. That all changed when I met my husband, Scott. I finally had someone that saw me for who I was, not a number on a scale.

Or so I thought. But then my husband left me for someone more beautiful, someone skinnier. It broke me.

Newly divorced and ready to find myself, I venture out into my single life.

And everything was fine. Until, I met Dr. Nathaniel Bennett . Of course I was attracted to him, but he would never see anything in me. I was the big girl. I had flaws. Nothing could ever happen between us.

I would never be pretty enough, skinny enough, to love.

Narrator is so goood!

I normally do not listen to this type of story. I usually save these for paperback reading somewhere near the water. I was suggested this book by a very good friend. The story itself was cute and predictable but the narrator seemed to turn it into a story that I didn’t want to turn off! Her cadence and tone along with her ability to make the listener really FEEL the character’s dialogue is a gift. I have been using audible for 9 years now and I have stopped a book midway due to a narrator’s voice. Can’t wait to listen to future work!

a must read

I absolutely loved this book. I have never had a book hit so close to home for me. It was as if Lynn wrote my entire life, even down to the main character having PCOS. The narration was equally amazing. Rachel read this book with so much emotion, as if she was living Madelyn's life and was experiencing the events herself. I found myself getting caught up in the ups and downs of her life with her.

Great Audio

This was a sexy, spicy book that many women can identify with. So many moments in this books really hit home and I thought it was really well done.

Great ChickLit

I assumed this was a typical chick lit, girl gets a divorce, finds her way through life, etc. but there was a lot more mixed in. I like that this books brought up a “taboo” subject - overweight stigmas, mental health, and infertility. Great listen!

So much to unpack

As an overweight woman, I was really hoping this book would capture the plight. Instead it was repetition and self-deprecation for hours. I stuck with it because I really wanted to know how it would end. Even when the heroine found her voice she easily lost it. And why for the love of all that is holy would you ever answer a phone call from someone who is going to beat you down with their words. I think with a severe edit and a little bit more character confidence building this book might be okay. S/N The narrator’s slow speech was maddening. Stalling at incomplete sentences made my eyes roll a lot. But not more than when she read text messages and included the punctuation!!!! Sorry I was hoping for so much more.
