Born and raised in a small Oregon town, all-American girl Rebecca Bender was a varsity athlete and honor-roll student with a promising future. Then a predator pretending to be her boyfriend lured her into a web of lies that sent her down a path she never imagined possible. For nearly six years, Rebecca was sold across the underground world of sex trafficking in Las Vegas. She was branded, beaten, told when to sleep and what to wear, and traded between traffickers. During that time, God began revealing himself to her.

Story
This is a true story. A transparent story of the life of a young man in America, who, like many of our lost youth, found his way into the drug culture. This story is an autopsy into the mind, heart, and soul of an addict. It begins at childhood and takes us through the thoughts, turmoil, and inner conflicts of a person lost in the undercurrent of addiction, and ends in a climax of self-discovery and realization. It is a gripping tale of a suburban youth and his journey through the streets of Baltimore, institutions, prisons, addiction, and worst of all, his own mind.

In her debut memoir, Andrade tells of her years with cocaine and crystal methamphetamine using, then selling, until all she had left of the life she wanted was a chalk outline and a pack of cigarettes. This is the story of her use and recovery, of the people who frustrated and inspired her, of the decision to leave the drug world. It is the story of her slow, often unsteady walk home.

a dull droning southern california sob story full of uninteresting facts and more than a bit of fiction. Many of the relationships sound contrived and were no doubt made up by the author to spice up her story.

keep going!
Some reviews mention the religious aspect. it's not preaching to the reader, its in relation to how Harmony was enlightened and guided by God. Don't let the small amount of religious content prevent you from reading this book, it's just her point of view, in which she describes her experience toward the end of the book. It's her journey and it's a big part of her life. it doesn't take away from the main point of the book! Harmony, glad you got rid of that freeloader!

Illuminating, Inspiring, and Heartbreaking
This book gave me so many feelings. Human trafficking is close to my heart, but hearing it from her point of view gave me an even greater understanding of part of the sex industry that I had never considered or comprehended.
Also, I appreciated having the book read by the author, herself. It adds her actual emotions to the story. Couldn't recommend more.

Captivating, raw, and inspiring...
Listening to Harmony narrate her own memoir made the experience of her audio book even more special and intimate. Harmony’s story is a painful one - the sexual abuse and neglect, the childhood exposure to pornography, drugs, and gangs, her deepfelt insecurity and longing for a sense of belonging and safety. This is what leads Harmony into an abusive relationship with an older man, and, ultimately, the sex industry. But for all the pain and tragedy, Scars and Stilettos is funny, (like laugh out loud funny at times), touching, hopeful, educational, inspiring and encouraging. I love how faith and friendship are found in the most unusual of places and how Harmony goes beyond her own personal journey of healing to eventually help other women across the globe with her non-profit, Treasures. This book is for anyone, but as a mental health professional, I found it particularly valuable.

Inspirational
My wife read this book as the first one after she became a Christian. It helped her see the real face of women in the sex industry and believe it or not helped her to forgive me for looking at porn for years. She has since gave this book to many other hurting women and I personally think this book has been such an inspiration to so many ordinary women. God bless you Harmony from your fans in Northern Ireland
