Publisher's Summary

As if he doesn't have enough to handle between running outlaws out of Cheyenne, keeping his brothers out of trouble, and avenging his father's death, Sheriff Sawyer McCade's meddling mother just dumped a mysterious mail-order bride on his doorstep. One woman can be more trouble than a band of renegades, and while this one has him all stirred up, he'd rather get to the bottom of the story she isn't telling.

Rose Parker had it all - until a web of danger and deceit sends her running to Cheyenne posing as a mail-order bride. Escaping the evils of New York seems sensible until she meets the unsuspecting sheriff who didn't ask for her, has no intention of marrying her, and won't rest until he uncovers her secret and sends her back home.

A good western romance

Where does Sawyer's Rose rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I’m don’t usually listen to romances but Sawyer’s Rose is more than a romance. Good plot and twists that I did not see coming.

What other book might you compare Sawyer's Rose to and why?

Sawyer’s Rose reminds me of Louis L’Amour somewhat. Tough but hurting cowboy and an equally tough woman trying to make her way in the West.

Any additional comments?

Narrator was awesome. I don’t think there could be a better voice for a western. Honestly, he reminded me of San Elliott.

Loved it!

I loved this story! It started with guns a blazin’, pulling me in from the very beginning. From there, I couldn’t put it down! Between the family drama, murder, mystery and romance, I was hooked.....and I fell in love with the characters. I can’t wait to listen to the next in the series! As for the narration, it was okay but took some getting used to. At times, it seems a little slow. I sped it up to x1.25 and then it was too fast at times. Sooooo, I just got used to the slowness and it was fine. In fact, after I got further into the book, it seemed the narration just fit the characters...it just worked. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Awesome

Kim Turner is a new author to me, and I was impressed with Sawyer's Rose. I thought the story was great in capturing the essence of the era, the hardships, the determination, and intriguing characters. The book pulled me in from the very beginning. I found it to be original, yet had everything I wanted. Dawson McBride's performance was spot on. He has a "cowboy" voice that only adds to the enjoyment. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will most definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Fantastic Debut

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I listened to this on audio in return for a fair review.

Let start off by saying the narrator, Dawson McBride, is amazing. When I say amazing, I mean his voice is reminiscent of Sam Elliot and James Earl Jones. His voice just has that "something". It was gripping! The way he spoke with inflections and drawl. *insert heart filled sigh*

The book. It was a solid debut. This book sets up a great series! The characters were well developed and the family was relatable. It was action packed and filled with adventure.

A timeless tale of human nature.

What did you love best about Sawyer's Rose?

I enjoyed the introduction and development of the characters and the details of their personalities. I love that the author showed the diversity of the brothers, yet wove them together with family love and loyalty.

Which scene was your favorite?

One of my favorite scenes was the first time that Rose and the McCade brothers had Sunday dinner with Dodge; the family dynamic was real an familiar to those of us with large families with more than one brother.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, this was a book that I wanted to treat myself to when I could listen for an hour or more and when I had time to relax and enjoy a good story with no interruptions.

Any additional comments?

The character development and story line was written well to lend itself for a series of books that I want to hear more of.

Author and Narrator were new to me.

I totally loved Sawyer and Rose's story. All the characters are so well written I found myself listening much longer than I planned. The narrator does a wonderful job. His deep strong voice gave life to every character. I will definitely look for more books by both this author and the narrator. I highly recommend this book.

DNF - Poor narrator choice

The narrator ruined this book for me. I tried to struggle through to the end, but couldn’t.

A Lovely listen

I enjoyed this historical, western romance. There was plenty of action and suspense interspersed throughout the whole story so there was never a dull moment.
The romance was sweet and developed very naturally.
My initial reservations about the narrator were quickly put aside as I got into the story. I found the performances of the male and female characters to be very good. I could really picture and hear the cowboys he was portraying. It sounded very authentic. The narrator's voice was very deep but it was softened when various characters spoke. I thought he did a very good job.
This was an entertaining story and I will enjoy listening to book two.

What a great book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Sawyer's Rose to be better than the print version?

I have read this story in print version and I absolutely loved it, so when I heard it would be on audible I couldn't wait to see how they would compare and this version didn't disappoint in any way in fact as I listened to the story I lay back and closed my eyes and saw it play out in my head like it was a movie on the big screen .

What other book might you compare Sawyer's Rose to, and why?

Although this book is mainly about the MacCade brothers who are cowboys in the old wild west, it's also a romantic story full of action and suspense that left me swooning for the men and cheering on the strong and feisty women.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

My favourite scene is at the bank, it's heart stopping and brilliantly played out!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The narrator of this book was very good at portraying the voices of each of the characters so it was very easy to connect to them and to feel the emotions of Sawyer, Rose and all the other's depending on the situations that they found themselves in. His voice is very deep but it's clear to understand him and it does change to represent whether he is reading the part of either a male or female character.

Any additional comments?

An exciting story that I enjoyed very much and can't wait to listen to more from this author and narrator.
