Cody couldn't be more opposite from Natalie.

When Natalie arrives in Belle Fourche with her ailing father and three wayward brothers, she’s forced to throw herself upon the mercy of her only remaining family - the Olesons - at the Broken Circle O. While her father rests, Natalie is excited to meet an ornery man with deep, gray eyes, and a missing leg. She’s certain that if he’ll agree to let her father fashion a prosthetic limb for him, the familiar work will help her father recuperate. But getting Cody Hammond to agree to anything proves more difficult than she first imagined. Will she be able to win him over before it’s too late for her father?

A chip on his shoulder isn't easy to bear.

Cody Hammond lives a quiet, ordered life, until one day an unfamiliar woman rushes into the bank where he works and threatens to disrupt everything. The more Natalie pushes her way into Cody's life, the more she makes him think about a past he’s worked hard to forget. He's determined to keep her away, but even his best isn't enough to scare off the enigmatic and beautiful Natalie.

Captivating And Unique

This fourth story in the Brothers Of Belle Fourche Series was captivating and unique. Cody Hammond, Eli Oleson’s brother-in-law, is a surly, gruff man who doesn’t seem to like anyone, including his own sister. He has had a tough past and has a lot of baggage to sort through, not the least of which is only having one leg. Natalie has just arrived in town with her sick father and unruly brothers looking for the Oleson ranch. When she walks up to him in the bank and speaks to him, ignoring all the other tellers, he is taken aback and intrigued. My heart went out to Cody, even through his gruffness. Natalie also had my heart right from the beginning, she was such a sweet and caring soul, even though she’d been through such tough times. This was a heartwarming and sometimes heart wrenching story and another enjoyable one to listen to. Kari Trumbo has a distinctive writing style that draws you into her stories and makes you feel as though you are living with her characters. J. Scott Bennett never ceases to amaze with his wonderful narration. I received a free copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily provided an unbiased review.

Saved by Grace

Saved by Grace by Kari Trumbo was a very fast paced book I enjoyed it as the subject matter was not a commonly talked about in the 1880s. How Natalie was able to help Cody was great. A sweet love story. Narrative was great

Delightful

I loved this unique story about the family making limbs for the soldiers who lost them during the war.  This is an amazing example of kindness winning.  It's just like the Bible states, "...the kindness of God leads you to repentance".  Kari truly has a gift for putting hard to love characters in a situation that softens them and soft characters become harder (stronger) because of working with that other person.

It was wonderful for the same narrator to continue this series!

Probably my fav out of all this series

Although all these books have been good I enjoyed this one the most. It had a little more references to God and keeping your Faith even when it seemed hopeless. The author puts just enough reference to God that it’s nice but not overwhelming and for us Christians its a reminder of His love during our ordinary day.
A nice romance that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to my advanced preteen reader friends. The gentleman that read it did a good job changing his tone for the emotions going on

Another installment of the Oleson family

This is the 4th installment in the Oleson family series and I'm seeing a lot of similarities. Ann, the star of the last book, is a sister to Cody Hammond, the subject of this story. Cody is a man in need of healing from a painful childhood and the loss of his leg in the war. He meets Natalie Oleson, the daughter of a dying man who just happens to be a master prosthetic maker. He's taught her to make prosthetics.

I like the family and their ranch setting. The story and resolution took far longer than I'd like. They all seem to end to soon in my opinion. I'll definitely continue on with the series.

Wonderful Story

This was a great book! Natalie has such a wonderful heart and how she had to help Cody even though she did not know everything about making the prosthetic limb. I loved the ending and cannot wait to read the next story!

Soulmates

I don’t think I’ve ever encountered an historical story that talked about prosthetics before. That particular point was what glued me to this story. After Eli, the last of the brothers to get married, I wondered who else would be married when I noticed this series continued. I honestly thought it would have been the next generation but was pleasantly surprised about the extended family. It was endearing how things turned out. I was really happy listening to how things turned out.

Saved by God's grace

Cody and Natalie both have issues to overcome. Cody lost a leg while serving in the British military, in a job he thought he would spend his life. Natalie has spent her life on the road with her father, helping him build artificial limbs for amputees. With he father's health failing, they and her three brothers arrive at her uncle's ranch and throw themselves on his mercy.

After meeting Cody, Natalie believes if she can convince him to allow her father to make him a new limb, it will give her father the will to live. She is in denial that her father is dying and nothing will change that. His it his dying wish that Natalie will move on with her life and forget about making prosthetics.

Cody's sister is married to Natalie's cousin. He has become a very bitter man and thinks he can figure out everyone's motives until Natalie comes along. She doesn't fit nicely into any box he has ever figured out. Can these two people ever arrive at a harmonious relationship?

The story is a good one, but I really didn't enjoy the narration. Since most of the narrative in the book is female, maybe if a woman has read the book, it would have appealed to me more.

Cody and Natalie

• The author caught my attention right from the beginning and drew me into the story with Natalie's determination to find the Olson farm.
• Natalie and Cody were characters that you wanted to discover more about as you listened to their story.
• The minor players in the story added depth to the storyline and were well developed.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done and easy to visualize and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.
• The pacing of the story was neither too slow nor too fast.
• There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book.
• This story had a satisfying ending.
• This novel was a clean read.
• I did not find this western Christian historical romance preachy. Religion was just a natural part of the characters' lives. No lectures.
• The narrator did an excellent job in differentiating the various characters' voices. He had a pleasant voice.
• I liked the concept of a prosthetic maker as a main character.

I was given a free audiobook by the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I will be listening/reading more books by this author.

Sweet Historical Romance

Saved By Grace is a sweet historical romance in the Brothers of Belle Fourche series by Kari Trumbo. Having listened to the other books in the collection I was anxious for this fourth one and was not disappointed. The author has captured well the era of the setting (1900, South Dakota) and the emotions and actions of her characters. They are realistic and relatable and I was drawn quickly into their story and enjoyed watching the romance between Natalie and Cody develop. Natalie, a determined and caring young woman and Cody, a banker who definitely has some bitterness and frustrations with things in his past that effect his present. Will they be able to move through their struggles to have a future together? It was interesting to read about the use of prosthetics during this period of history. Although fourth in the series, it is easily a stand-alone story but I'd recommend reading the first three books as well. It is interesting to see the characters from the previous books and what has been happening with them. Readers of historical romance books will not want to miss this one. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and was not required to write a review and the opinions are my own. The narrator, J. Scott Bennett, did a great job telling Natalie and Cody's story which made for an enjoyable listening experience. I am so glad there are more books in this series as I look forward to reading more about the brothers of Belle Fourche and the women they come to love.

There is Always Hope!

This is a really great love story, beautifully written by Kari Trumbo as a stand-alone with wonderful and very believable characters and of course, a happily ever-after.
In addition, J. Scott Bennett has narrated the audiobook and he makes each character come alive with his interesting voices which make the book a pleasure to listen to.
I requested a copy and listened to the audio version and my voluntary and unbiased review is above.
