Much More Than Just A Vampire Story!

I was expecting the usual stereotypical vampire falling love, turning said "love" into vampire so they can spend their HEA together. Boy, I was wrong…… pleasantly wrong! Saved by Blood was a decent entertaining story with a refreshingly different plot. It's fairly quick and can be listen too in one sitting. However, the first half of the book felt more developed than the last half, making the ending feel a little rushed and abrupt. Overall rating of 3.5 stars.

Some Spoilers;
Philip's been a vampire for hundreds of years. Each year that passes he loses more and more of his humanity and has become indifferent towards humans, life and his existence. One night, while out walking, he hears a women being attacked, and he finds himself fascinated that he would even care enough to consider helping her. What shocks him even more, his desire to want to spend more time with the human after he rescues her.

Megan is shaken up, but happy someone step in and saved her from being attacked, but she can tell there is something "different" about her savior and just wants to get away as fast as possible. She really thinks it's strange when Philip extends an offers for her to come back to his place and have a drink right after she's been attacked. Yup, she needs to get away…. now, but oddly finds herself standing outside her apartment contemplating Philip's offer. It's New Orleans, and she's always been fascinated with older homes, especially the one Philip lives in. Her curiosity wins and compels her to go to Philips house for the tour and drink. While showing his beautiful home, the strange pull and attraction between them intensifies and they end up spending a steamy night together. The next morning, Megan starts to connect the dots and all the strange things she's noticed and begins to think Philip may not be human. She makes a mad dash for home. All her life, she's felt the need to be on the run, and as soon as she gets to her apartment, she's packing and leaving town. Her plans come to a screeching halt when she is abducted by several men. Philip can't deny the attraction and pull he has towards Megan, and when he sees her rushing off, he's determine to go after her, especially when he learns Megan special and has been abducted.

Meghan Kelly is one of the reasons I choose to listen to this story. I've listened to several audios narrated by her and I always enjoy her performance. She has unique voice that’s pleasant, and I like how she portrays both the male and female characters.

Vampire Hero... Unique take on vampires!

This story took me by surprise. It is not the typical blood thirsty and sometimes irrational vampire struggles as he falls in love against all odds. It is a fresh take on vampires and witches.

I have listened to several books narrated by Meghan Kelly and I really enjoy listening to her. Her voice is great portraying both males and females voices.

This is my first book in this series but I did enjoy listening to it. I felt like the characters could have been better developed and expanded a bit. It is a short and pleasant listen although Megan lacked in common sense most of the time.

Phillip is an Old vampire that doesn't usually mingle with human affairs but he decides to get involved and save Megan from some dangerous men.

There is some attraction between them but after spending some time with Philip, she runs from him and gets kidnapped. Things seems to move quickly from when she runs from Phillip to the Conclusion. It does have a pleasant conclusion. No major cliffhangers.

Story was good, Like a "B" film

I received this audio book free for an honest review. I have to say my review isn't going to be a good one. First of all, I don't care for the narrator. She takes away from the story. And the story... well, it probably could have been a good one, except that it didn't have any substance. The author sounded like she had the Thesaurus sitting next to her and she chose words that didn't add to the story. In my mind I was always substituting her words to those that made more sense. I'm glad it was a short story and didn't waste too much of my time. The description of the book did not reflect the actual book. How does that happen?

Meghan and Philip

This book was OK. I would not opt to listen to it again. The book had a lot of internal dialogue, which can be annoying. Meghan Kelly did a very good job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Enjoyable...

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the book but I have had the same issues with the narrator before she does an amazing job with the voices of the characters but the in between is where I get frustrated she speaks in the same tone kind of making each sentence sounding as if it were a question… I liked the story it was your typical vampire story he finds a girl irresistible and doesn’t understand why but come to find out she is a witch and she needs his protection.

A Vampire Savior..

Any additional comments?

Megan, the female lead, is being attacked while Philip, the male lead steps in and saves

her, even though he isn't sure why he intervened.

There is an "instant" attraction between the two main characters, in addition to a few

twists and turn of the story line.

Overall, the book was written well and is entertaining.

Meghan Kelly did well with the narration.

OVER-WORDY REPETITION WASTES DEVELOPMENT

Any additional comments?
I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Sorry, but I wanted to groan at times, chugging through endless inner thoughts and sentences. Repetition, anyone? The plot should have made an interesting story but it fell short. The description doesn't point out that it's a Vampire / WITCH story instead of owing a life for saving a life story (which wasn't the story, but hey, wouldn't that have been hot). Megan was a total idiot, in conversation and actions. The secondary characters weren't developed well. The main conflict was, oh wait, I missed it (went by so fast).

The narrator Meghan Kelly did a courageous job navigating the run-on text and ridiculous conversations. I'm not sure anyone could make the characters sound believable. Her character voices were easily recognizable.

This book was a capable stand-alone. It had a soft cliffhanger by not completing their relationship but nothing was left with a big ??? I wanted to like this more because the previous books got many good reviews. It entertained me enough to finish and give it a 2-3 star. No thumbs up, just a tilting, even-steven hand.

Good blend of witches and vampires!

"Saved by Blood" is a unique mixture of witches and vampires. I like that Phillip goes above and beyond his normal morals and values to help a human in distress. The only thing is, he doesn't realize who this human is and how she will affect his life there after.

Megan is a sweet yet strong willed human that turns out to be the strongest witch ever. He eventually realizes her potential and saves her from his vicious ex.

Truly a good story, but the narration left a little bit to be desired. It seemed stagnant for the story line. I wish there was more intensity in the narrators voice.

Not a 'typical' vampire

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did finish it all in one evening, it helped that its not very long, but it was also an enjoyable book to listen to.

Any additional comments?

I often find that female narrators male voices aren't great, but that was not the case with this book, all the voices were well done, it was really easy to know which character was speaking.
The pace of both the narration and the story was good, it gave enough detail to paint the scene while still moving things forward at a good speed.
The characters are nicely developed and seem like people you could meet on the street.
I haven't listened to the rest of the series but they're about to make it onto my wishlist.
