Publisher's summary

When the perfect life Alyssa Holden planned turns out to be a life of lies, she runs to her brother, the only person she can trust. She has no idea she's running straight into a world of badass bikers who live and ride by their own rules. One tatted rebel in particular calls to her wilder side, and while everything in her draws her toward him, every experience she's had with men warns her away.

Jace Warren is doing what he's done his whole life - trying to survive, making the best with what he'd been given. The only life that makes sense after the military is Hell Ryder's Motorcycle Club, but the sweet innocence of his army buddy's sister promises a different life, one a man like him can only dream of. Problem is being his MC brother's sister puts her off limits. Hard as it is, he keeps his distance. Then she kisses him, and all bets are off.

Running Wild

Aly is a rich girl that has an overbearing father and Aly has always done what her father wanted, the job he wanted her to do and even getting ready to marry the man her father wants her to. Even after Aly finds Wyatt cheating on her, her father still wants her to marry him because he would be an asset to him and his company. Having had enough, Aly packs a bag & jumps on a plane to Ty (her brother) the one person she can always count on. Once she arrives, she goes to the garage where he works but is told that he does not work there, but they are willing to give her a ride anywhere she wants...in walks Ty and his best friend Jace. Ty being the protective brother tells all his "brothers" that Aly is off limits. Jace and Aly feel a spark but Jace won't act on it because of Ty. In walks Aly's ex who isn't about to let Aly go, this brings Jace & Aly closer together and after 1 kiss...all bets are off.
Can't wait to read the next one.

Good Listen

Typically I do not listen to many MC books, but I was intrigued by this one. I could envision so much of this book (maybe its from watching Sons of Anarchy). I thought the narrator did a great job with his characters and performance. Aly and Jace seemed to go well together, although Aly seemed a little weak. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I was glad that the ending turned out the way it, without giving away spoilers, it could have gone several directions.

Trying to listen to, not sure I can finish....

I think it's a good story? But doubt I'll finish or keep, the narration is horrible.

Writing amateurish, narration and audio horrible

I tried, I got to chapter 8, but that's enough - I should have paid more attention to the few reviews that were honest. The storyline has potential, that's why I kept going. The narrator is monotone and slow, making the whole experience even worse and the quality of the audio is anything but professional.

Poor narrator

Story was decent but the narrator was awful. He was monotone most of the time, and failed to pause for transitions

It is really as bad as it could be

I read a couple of reviews that were appalled by the lack of writing skills and I thought, surely not, the book got published. I read reviews that were appalled at the horrible narration and the pathetic audio quality; but I got the book anyway because not every review made these comments. Some reviewers gave good reviews. These are the reviewers that shock me. Yes, the writing is that bad and yes, the narration and audio quality is horrible. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. The only saving grace may be that the book my be self published.

What A First Ride!

This is #01 in the Hell Ryders MC Series.

HEA with No cliffhangers!

This is the first in series so can be read at anytime. But as always, I suggest reading in order once you start this series.

Content Advisory:
There is sex, dirty talk, and cussing. Yum!

Motorcycles + Hot Alpha Males = A Smexy Good Time!

Running Wild is the first in this MC Romance series. It does a good job at setting the ground work for the players and their world without distracting from plot. It centers around Jace and Allie, but by the end you know all the characters you want to see get a HEA, as well as the ones you want to punch in the throat. All done without slowing you down or making you forget what you were actually reading about.

Jace “Trigger” Warren is our first biker bad boy up to bat. He has a lot of heart despite his gruff exterior. He is attracted to the heroine from the moment he sees her, but has to hold back because his war buddy Ty puts the "Do Not Touch" stamp on her right off the bat. Of course this doesn't ultimately stop him, but it does make it hella complicated. I like the character but he mentioned being trailer trash way too much to the point it became cringe worthy. 3 times spaced out would of gotten the point across fine. I do love that he is not afraid to speak up and tell it like it is, especially to Lilliam. I hated that psycho.

Alyssa “Allie” Holden is our self conscience heroine. It's to the point I wanted to smack her by the end. She manages to pull herself out of a F'd up situation to escape to the safety of her brother Ty. Not to mention this chick has a masters degree from an Ivy League school. The girl is smart and has got some balls, but she just doesn't realize it. Lucky for her Jace doesn't let her hide from it! She bucks the system in her determination to not have anyone control her life, but finds out the hard way why the secret service do what they do. I'm hoping in the future books we will see more growth in her character.

Overall this is a great start to a new series. I look forward to the bikers that are yet to come. I really want to hear Ty's book. That boy is so clueless! I think he has a thing for Tina. He so wants to be her baby daddy in more than just the obvious ways! It would also be poetic turn-about. She is Jace's little sister! There are currently 2 more Hell Ryders stories out in audio, Cuss and Ripper.

This is my first listen by J.L. Sheppard. The characters are real and memorable. I want more! I plan to listen to the rest of the series as soon as I can get my hands on them.

This is my first listen by Ken Solin. He does a good job with the various characters. His pauses could use some polish but overall it works.

Normal speed was fine.
There were some random background noises from time to time but in short spurts.

Audiobook obtained at my request and I am voluntarily leaving this unbiased review.

Narrator ruined the complete experience.

Narrator had no range, his male voices where all deep, gruff, and monotone and the female voices were all slightly higher but still monotone. He also had an East coast accent and ran his words together without use of punctuation.

The story is good so I cancelled audio and purchased to read on kindle. Too bad because I love MC books and look forward to listening.

Good story - bad narration

do yourself a favor and read the book - listening to this gentleman try to do a female lead character voice was a real turnoff. He did not always remember whose character voice he was doing - chopping cut ins for voiceovers, etc. really wasted my money on this

Good

I loved this story and having the book too made this even better, Ken did a really good job narrating and made this story come alive.
I really enjoyed having the whisper sync, it meant I didn't miss a beat.
