Publisher's Summary

It’s paranormal women’s fiction for lovers of magic, mayhem, and a solid afternoon nap (when they can squeeze one in.)

Katherine wasn’t looking for anything extraordinary in her life. She had a job she loved, a husband she adored, and a home in the beautiful seaside town of Moonstone Cove.

Okay, yes, she worked too much and had fallen out of touch with all her friends, but that happened to everyone, right? And sure, she was feeling a little creaky in the mornings and couldn’t drink coffee after noon, but that was just life in middle age.

Four minutes was all it took for fate to run away with anything that resembled normal.

Now Katherine is trying to place mysterious psychic visions into her previously ordered life. She’s playing referee between a displaced Southern mama and a sarcastic mechanic with a chip on her shoulder. And her quiet life has been upended by a mysterious rash of violent acts by students at her school.

Thankfully, her new friends have powers of their own, and together they just might discover who or what has it in for the quiet citizens of Moonstone Cove.

Runaway Fate is the first book in the hot new paranormal women’s fiction series, Moonstone Cove by USA Today best-selling author, Elizabeth Hunter.

Runaway Fat by Elizabeth Hunter

Runaway Fate by Elizabeth Hunter
Book 1 of the Moonstone Cove series, a spin-off fro the Glimmer Lake series. Paranormal women’s fiction. While the characters from Glimmer Lake make an appearance, those books do not need to be read first unless minor spoilers are an issue.

While Katherine is at her gym working out, she experiences a vision of a student pulling out a gun and shooting people. Suddenly he’s there and reaching into his jacket. Katherine and two other women in the gym prevent the shooting and subdue him. But it’s not over. Katherine and her two new friends investigate another “worst nightmare” situation and find more than one connection and more than one student who doesn’t remember how they things went so wrong.

A strong and smart heroine with a successful career and a supporting spouse. She’s not sure why she’s getting visions suddenly but she doesn’t hesitate to act. I loved the building friendships of the three women after meeting at the gym and each manifesting some psychic ability. Just like in the Glimmer Lake series. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Immediately engaging, quick moving and fascinating.

I alternated between a paperback and audiobook. The narrator did a great job with voice variations and emotions.

Just didn’t do it for me

I absolutely love PWF genre and so I try to read them when I find them. It started out with a bang but just kind of fizzled out for me. The middle was mostly eh and the end was good. It just seemed slow and just didn’t engage me. That being said there are things I liked. I love that she has a sweet loving husband because it seems to be a norm in this genre is that the main character is divorced or widowed. I also like that the circle came together because of the defining moment. While this is paranormal with the power, there aren’t things like vampires and shifters. It’s more of a cozy sisterhood read with out the romance. The narrator does a fine job of the different accents and being very consistent through out the story but over all it just didn’t do it for me.

Suspenseful and Superb

Loved it! This is my favorite Elizabeth Hunter book that I've read so far. A spine-chilling psychological mystery, a brilliant scientist protagonist (my favorite kind of protagonist), plot twists that keep you guessing, awesome female friendships and psychic powers! I cannot wait to dig into the next book in this series.

great Series Starter

Kathrine's life changes at the gym. Kathrine has visions, Toni can move objects and Megan can make people feel what she feels. At first i didn't like Toni but i'm glad she came around and the three women became friends, Kathrine needed some. I like that Glimmer Lake is mentioned in the book. This book is easy to read and fun. I was hooked from the first chapter. I like Elizabeth Hunters writing, well done with this book. I highly recommend this book, probably this whole series.

Tickle Me Pink Moments

The best part of this book are wonderfully quirky and unique characters. While they could be seen as caricatures at first glance you soon realize that they are fully formed well-thought-out people. The tropes the author uses end up feeling realistic and natural in a self-deprecating and smile out of the side of your mouth kind of way.

The story is also interesting and and wonderfully crafted to hold a bit of magic in the real world.

I enjoyed this book and will continue reading the next book in the series.

I highly recommend this book/audiobook

Elizabeth Hunter has created another great series. The storyline was unique and the characters were developed and doom seemed more like friends than simply characters.
Ava Lucas gave a stellar performance as she brought the story together and gave it life. She gave each character a distinct voice so you could always know who was speaking.
I highly recommend this book/audiobook to fans of cozy fiction.

Good listen

A very satisfying book. I really enjoyed the relationships between characters. I felt like I had been to this small town and camped at the local campground. It was fast paced and yet I could not figure out how it would end.

The narrator made the story come alive, was clear spoken and comfortable to listen to.

An Engaging Thriller To Kick Off A New Series.

I’m already a fan of Elizabeth Hunter’s books and love her writing style. Her stories tick all the boxes for me. An intelligent writing style that's easy to read. Protagonists with personality traits that feel credible. A range of supporting characters that earn their place in the story. Plots and settings that feel believable – even when based in a paranormal world. And finally, a balanced mix of relationship, tension, action, humour and mystery in the plot line.

As a menopausal woman, I love that the Moonstone Cove series has older protagonists and supporting characters. About bloody time! Woohoo! I loved the relationships featured in this story; our protagonist's marriage to Baxter (it was beautiful and refreshing to see) and the evolving friendships between Katherine, Megan, and Toni.

I’d recommend Runaway Fate to anyone who enjoys stories about the value of strong, healthy friendships. Those who enjoy thrillers with danger, twists and unexpected surprises. But who also crave second coming-of-age adventures for older, independent, capable women. And appreciate a generous helping of banter, humour and realistic issues for the over 40s within a paranormal mystery.

We're treated to the first chapter of the next story in the Moonstone Cove at the end of this audiobook. I want to listen to Fate Actually - now!! Lol!
