Publisher's Summary
Random House present the audiobook edition of Run Away, written by Harlan Coben. The brilliant new thriller from the international best-selling author described by Dan Brown as 'the modern master of the hook and twist'.
You've lost your daughter.
She's addicted to drugs and to an abusive boyfriend. And she's made it clear that she doesn't want to be found.
Then, quite by chance, you see her busking in New York's Central Park.
But she's not the girl you remember. This woman is wasted, frightened and clearly in trouble.
You don't stop to think. You approach her, beg her to come home.
She runs.
And you follow her into a dark and dangerous world you never knew existed. Where criminal gangs rule, where drugs are the main currency and murder is commonplace.
Now it's your life on the line. And nowhere and no one is safe.

Mid Range Coben
I have read a few of Coben's books before with mixed results but he's definitely an author worthy of attention. I enjoyed this one and while I wouldn't number it among his best it is also far from his worst.
It switches between multiple points of view including the admirably named Simon, a rather odd 'hit' couple and a couple of other characters. They are all well drawn and move the plot along at a decent pace and that plot included a couple of moments that definitely took me aback. Always a good sign in my book.
The narration by Steven Weber is sound making this an enjoyable read overall.

A Run Away Success
Another thoroughly 'enjoyable' novel by Harlan Coben! I highlight that word because several lead characters are particularly unpleasant as is the violence of the action. Nevertheless, I found this a gripping story, well worth the listen. I discovered Harlan Coben's writing whilst on holiday in Italy about fifteen years ago and have been an avid fan since then. My personal preference is for his 'stand alone' books and this is one of them. Intense, fast-paced and excellently delivered by Steven Weber whose vocal skills create the different locations, characters and emotions so effectively. A satisfying listen. I await the next H.C. impatiently!

Harlan never lets you down
Although I miss the characters of Pike and Joe, Harlan's books are always fantastic. His latest style of writing touches one to the core and makes you face deep issues through his characters

Too matter of fact gory
I listened to this audio book as it had such a great wrap! I unfortunately found it too matter of fact gory. Senseless, pointless murders that took away from what could have been a brilliant book.
