Publisher's summary

My name is Larkspur, and I am an Elemental.

My people use the power of the earth to sustain life and defy our enemies. I am the half-breed bastard child of a king. I was not meant to survive the trials cast my way. Yet, here I stand.

The world has deteriorated in the years I was banished. The Elemental families are rife with deception, violence, and madness more than ever before.

A voice I know all too well calls me to do her bidding. A voice I no longer wish to hear. The mother goddess begs me to save the four families, and stop my nemesis. To do it, I must face each of the Elemental leaders and take from them the power they hold close: the stones I once entrusted to them.

Now, the secrets I unearth as I pursue the stones shatter everything I know about my world, and everything I was taught.

Yet, I am not the naïve girl I once was. If I am to see this through, I must completely embrace the new reality of my life and all its obstacles while forging ahead.

Four stones abused.

Four families broken.

A half-breed princess as their only hope.

Through it all, the one I love waits for me to find him. When I do, will he, like everything else in my world, not be what he once was?

Fantastic story/series!!!

Another fantastic, action packed book to this series. All Lark does is try to help everyone and she keeps getting punished for it. The way she was treated after helping Rylee was terrible. I can't wait until she is able to get Ash back. I cant wait to find out how else Blackbird plays into this story and if it will be good or bad. Such an interesting story that is hard to stop listening to. Can't wait to start the next book with that ending, I need to know what happens! I love how Lauren Fortgang does the voices. She is awesome to listen to!

Captivating as the Plot Unravels Further

I’ve really loved the last two books in this series, so it was no surprise that this one captivated me just as much. Just when you think you know where the story will go, a new truth unravels which rocks the foundation you thought you stood on, just like Lark. Yes, some of it makes your head spin, but not too bad. Mayer really is masterful bringing this world together in this series, and it really ties into Rylee’s series and will bridge the gap for Pamela later.

I didn’t particularly enjoy the 25 year gap of Lark’s banishment into the desert, but if I read this series with some others, it probably wouldn’t bother me much. I know the intro says you don’t have to read Rylee before this one, but after a while, I really got the feeling I should have. But that is my only complaint. This book might not be as dramatic as the others, but the ending will start to make you question everything. Before making you immediately want to start the next book.

Rootbound

This series never stops playing with your emotions in the best ways. Lark must visit all of the families again and retrieve that stones that she gave to the rulers. It was amazing to see how each ruler had changed and how Lark found a way to get what she needed. This is my second time reading through the series and I still can’t get enough. I can’t wait for the epic conclusion.

Lark always breaks my heart

Lark has such a hard life and yet always chooses to protect the ones she loves or to do the right thing. It is heart breaking to see her suffer for the greater good and on the other hand puts certain small issues of daily life in perspective. I just love this series. Albeit not for the conventional reasons. Lark and peta are such a strong force and I love listening to their banter. What a great story, again

25 year gap is confusing but don't let it stop you

25 year gap makes for a feeling of confusion. You do get notified at the beginning of the recording that the story begins 25 years after Windburn and that it continues in Elementally Priceless before getting into this one. If you don’t have it, you’ll want it, and you’ll want to read it before this one. If you don’t mind feeling a little lost while she gives you some little hints or recaps of the missing book, then go ahead and continue without Elementally Priceless. It won’t take long before you get past what you’ve missed anyway. The pace is quick and it feels like you’re flying with Shazer as they speed through from one place to another. The shock of the reveal at the end and the hilariousness that follows had me laughing loud enough to wake my daughter who was in bed, in a closed room, upstairs.

Exciting

This book took Larkspur all over the realm. She met or found out the fate of many of the characters in previous books. I have not read/listened to the Riley series. I felt like I would have enjoyed this a little more of I had. But I was able to understand the gist of what happened. The narrator does a fantastic job. The different voices are great!

Amazing as always

Every book in this series has kept me coming back for more, eager for more. I love how characters we haven't heard from in a while come back and are important to the story line.

The narration is great and the characters are made distinct with her voice. They do not blend together at all which makes it even easier to keep listening.

I received a free audio book in return for an honest review.

Gripping

This book brings together a few different stories from this universe and begins a new rollercoaster of emotions and intrigue. It was my escape from reality. I kept forgetting throughout the listen that it’s only Lauren reading - she honestly is brilliant at what she does. Please give it a listen!

Amazing

Another amazing, fast paced, page turning adventure that runs you through every emotion and leaves you wanting more. Lark and Peta continue to ban together to put the world right, when so many seek to manipulate and control the outcome. The anticipation to know who is right, and who is lying, will have you turning pages late into the night
