Publisher's Summary

From Marc Levy, the most-read French author alive today, comes a modern-day love story between a famous actress hiding in Paris and a bestselling writer lying to himself. They knew their friendship was going to be complicated, but love - and the City of Lights - just might find a way.

On the big screen, Mia plays a woman in love. But in real life, she's an actress in need of a break from her real-life philandering husband - the megastar who plays her romantic interest in the movies. So she heads across the English Channel to hide in Paris behind a new haircut, fake eyeglasses, and a waitressing job at her best friend's restaurant.

Paul is an American author hoping to recapture the fame of his first novel. When his best friend surreptitiously sets him up with Mia through a dating website, Paul and Mia's relationship status is "complicated."

Even though everything about Paris seems to be nudging them together, the two lonely ex-pats resist, concocting increasingly far-fetched strategies to stay "just friends." A feat easier said than done, as fate has other plans in store. Is true love waiting for them in a postscript?

    "It Counts this time"

This is a delightful book .. at times frustrating with developments that reveal themselves slowly opening layers of delightful characters. Worthy of the time spent on each and the twists of friendships and lives...left with wanting more .....

"Mia and Paul Make a Cute Couple"

I selected this book as my gift from Amazon for August. I loved the story and will reading more by this author. Mia was the main character, a well-known actress, who made movies with her husband. Her husband cheats on her and she gets fed up and takes off to Paris to 'get her head straight.' She is taken in by her best friend for years, Daisy, who owns a restaurant. Mia doesn't know what she should do but she winds up registering on a dating site. the story takes off. She meets Paul Barton, and American novelist living in Paris, and the story wraps itself around your heart and head. It is a love story but with lots of twists and turns. I am so happy that I selected it. It is unpredictable. the characters are well developed and easy to like. It's is funny and sweet. Treat yourself to a new author and sit back and enjoy. The author has written 18 novels so I'd say I can enjoy his words for some time yet. Check him out. Thanks to the translator Sam Taylor for a superb translation; Tim Campbell portrayed the characters with great charm. I loved this book and will be looking for more Marc Levy books.

"Lovely story and great for commuters who need to loose themselves in crummy traffic"

Need I say more than fifteen words required to submit this review? It's a good story and well read. I didn't mind my horrible commute while listening.

    "Wow! What a WONDERFUL listen!"

This story started very slow, and I admit I was a bit bored for a while. But it because so darn funny I couldn't stop laughing! I don't laugh out loud often while listening to a book but honestly, I am going to listen again. The hero in the story is just a normal guy whop hasn't a clue what is going on. Paris is also a pleasure, the different nationalities and so on. Really, this tickled me, but you have to work at it at first.

    "A very enjoyable listen"

I rarely write reviews, but this book deserves one. For me it was a new plot for romance novels. Several times I laughed out loud. It was a really enjoyable listen. I would highly it.

    "Good but not great"

In the beginning it was hard to connect to the book. During the characters rendezvous it was an attention grabber. The end of the book was all over the place and lost my attention as a reader. The ending felt more like a confusion of multiple books with a lack of character development and a lack of connection to the main story.

    "Hated it"

I really didn't know what to expect but the general idea of a plot and interesting characters was the middle minimum and this book failed at that basic idea...

The audible reader made this delightful story most enjoyable. A perfect summer read made more interesting by a very good interpretation of the main characters.

    "all over the place!"

There were moments in the story that I truly enjoyed it, but then there were moments where I had no idea what was going on. I felt like the story went back and forth and it wasn't a good rhythm to it, also it seemed to me a little far-fetched that smart adults couldn't figure out what was going on around them. all in all it was an okay story but I want to recommend it to a friend. the performance was great and I enjoyed hearing all the French pronunciations.
