Publisher's Summary

When Janelle Prescott is thrown from her car as it careens off a slippery road, she expects to wake up in a hospital. Instead, to her utter disbelief, she wakes up in a jail cell that looks like something from an old Western movie set. It is there, hurt and alone, with no idea what happened or how she will get back home, that Janelle first meets Aaron Jackson. As she regains her wits, however, Janelle realizes something is terribly amiss, and her worst fears are confirmed when she learns Aaron is the marshal of Cheyenne County, Wyoming...and the year is 1878.

When an injured, apparently addle-headed woman falls into his lap, Aaron takes it upon himself to keep her safe and nurse her back to health. Truth be told, he is instantly attracted to her despite her sharp tongue and her bizarre story - a story he is quickly forced by the evidence to accept as genuine. After Aaron takes her under his wing and into his family’s home, the two clash frequently, but Aaron is more than ready to lay down the law...even if that means a good, hard bare-bottom spanking for this feisty brat from another era.

Having little choice, Janelle must learn how to live as a woman in 1878, including submitting to the firm-handed marshal who, in spite of everything, seems to have laid claim to her heart.

Publisher’s note: Marshal’s Law is an erotic romance novel that contains graphic sexual scenes and spankings, including domestic discipline in a historical setting. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this audiobook.

Time Travel and a sexy cowboy

Wow! This book had my emotions in a whirlwind. I really wasn't sure what I would be getting into with the whole domestic discipline theme, but I did try to go into it with an open mind. My feelings about Aaron and his discipline were quite mixed. In truth, it almost felt like two different people at times. On the one hand, he's all alpha male with his protective streak and big, sexy cowboy persona. He's so open-minded about Janelle, where she's from, and her education, and he's unusually insightful at times. On the other hand, when he feels that Janelle needs to learn to "behave," he's overbearing and what I would consider abusive. I realize that domestic discipline is a real thing that some couples enjoy, but I can't say that it did anything for me. So, with that in mind, I put my focus on the rest of the story. I will say that when Janelle and Aaron were in sync, the chemistry was off the charts with lots of steamy goodness.

As far as Janelle's time travel, I don't read much with that theme either because they so often get bogged down in the explanations, so I wasn't at all bothered by the lack of that here. We never get the reason for Janelle's leap into the past, so if you're looking for a magical, mystical, or scientific plot, you won't find that here.

The story here, at least for me, was about Janelle and her assimilation into a time without the modern day comforts. Her frustration with learning everything expected of a woman in 1878 and finding not only love, but a whole family willing to accept her with open arms. On that, the author certainly did a wonderful job of conveying her confusion, her longing, and finally her contentment. We also get a bit of wit and humor as she and Aaron pick up the phrasings and their different meanings from one time period to the next. I also loved the way things were wrapped up in the epilogue with Janelle's parents in modern day.

Since I did listen to the audio version of Marshal's Law, I have to mention our narrator, Gideon Welles. If I were going to pick a voice for this one, he would be it. That drawl and bit of gruff in his voice was absolutely perfect. In fact, I'm pretty sure his wonderful narration played a big part in my falling a bit for Aaron in spite of my feelings for his discipline.

Excellent

Maddie Taylor has outdone herself with this story. I am a big fan of time travel romances and while some authors spend so much time on explanations as to why the character time travels it interrupts the story. This is not the case in Marshal's Law the story just flows and pulls you into the world Jenelle has suddenly found herself in. Who would not want to travel back in time if they had Aaron Jackson waiting for them? Aaron is in all sense of the word an alpha and has no problem with giving the women he has taken under his protection some good old fashioned discipline for her own good. Not only is the story fantastic but the narration was spot on, so many times a bad narrator can ruin a good story I am so happy this was not the case here. I have to admit I have only read Ms. Taylors sci-fi romances before and although I loved them and am hoping they come out as audio books soon I stuck with that genre what a mistake. Now that I have found this trilogy I will definitely be reading them as soon as possible. I just hope they come out in audio soon as this story made my commute so much more bearable.

Really enjoyed this book!

I was given a promo code to listen to this audio-book for an honest review. So here goes..... I liked this book. It was interesting and exciting to listen to. The sex scenes were extremely hot and probably the best part of the book. I did however get annoyed with the main character Janelle sometimes because she did act like a brat on occasion. But at the same time, i found Arron's character to be too dominating, and how many times does a person need to be spanked?!?!? LOL
I did enjoy this book and will recommend it to my friends who like western romances. :O)

Time Travel to the wild west wonderfully done.

I don't usually read time travel books because they are just too unbelievable.I am so glad I gave this story a chance. I was hooked from chapter one. It follows the story of Janelle who travels back in time from the 21st century to the wild west in the 1800's. Maddie Taylor spins a great tale of how she is rescued by the local Marshall. They struggle as a married couple to adjust to their differences, For Janelle as an independent woman it is especially hard to come to grip with domestic discipline and the role that woman play in that time.Eventually she begins to see why discipline is needed. It is funny at times.Especially as she shares some of the sayings and technology from her time with the family. Also very educational as we forget exactly how life was back then. We meet the Marshall's loving parents and his brothers. The book also has some very suspenseful moments showing how dangerous that time really was. The author really must have done her research with this book. I can't wait to read the next one in this series. It has a very unexpected finish. I also have to mention the narrator Gideon Welles. He did such justice to the voices of this book. I had to look twice to verify it was only one narrator. His voice for the Marshall was perfect. I sure hope Maddie Taylor and Gideon Welles will do the next books in this series.

LAYING DOWN THE LAW... ON HER A**

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Surprisingly entertaining story and likable characters. Some gaps in information, meaning, there were some things I would have liked to understand but they never got addressed. Aaron is a big and brawny Marshall who resides over the entire Wyoming Territory. He gets saddled with the care of Jenelle, a very unconventional and mysterious woman. Once she realizes WHEN she is, the delicacy of her situation unfolds. There are dangers that she can’t understand and the Marshall, in his attempts to keep her safe, needs her to follow his rules explicitly or they will have a discussion... without words... a spanking. Jenelle gets MANY spankings but in this story they are not foreplay. But never mind that. There is foreplay, and sex, and love, and an HEA.

Gideon Welles had the PERFECT voice for Aaron. He does a great job for every character.

Fine. Okay. Two Thumbs Up. I was entertained!

Nice and Sexy!

I love the time travel aspect of this book. This story tells of a modern day woman (2013) who wakes up in a jail cell in Laramie, WY (1878) after a car accident. This story engages all of your emotions. I found myself laughing, tearing up and becoming hot and bothered during the sex scenes. The plot and characters have a continuous flow. The narration was good and kept you entertained. The author did a great job with this story! This was my first book by this author and I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series. Marshal’s Law

This book is great for time travel. Although I had a hard time with some parts, mainly because such things just aren’t the norm currently, I did enjoy the book. Watching these two grow to love as well as understand each other was fun to listen to. The narration was good as well.

past perfect

Marshal's Law
: Maddie Taylor

First off I missed the spanking warning, which is not my passion. That being said I liked this time travel with the woman going into the old west 135 years back. The premise of male dominance and female submission worked well in this time period. It made me stop and think what it would be like for a modern independent woman trying to follow the rules. There was one big plot hole that being the time portal. Other than that I enjoyed seeing how the personalities interacted.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Gideon Welles.
